Several times here people like me have noted that many American Jews have little or no interest in the State of Israel. When Exodus with Paul Newman and the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston were in theaters, it was a different story.

On a one on one basis, yes, you are correct. But in the current situation, there’s a great deal of peer pressure in that clique to at least appear to support Israel. If only to virtue signal, that class will temporarily turn away from financial support of the Dems and likely will stay home in the election. They won’t vote Republican, but that doesn’t matter. They only have to not vote for the Dem.
My guess is that it’s propaganda from the Biden administration to try to control how Israel is eradicating Gaza of Hamas. Biden & his cronies would prefer half-measures from Israel but Israel will have none of that.
