Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) is leading hypothetical match-ups with his potential GOP rivals in Ohio’s Senate race as he tries for reelection in 2024, new polling shows.

An Emerson College Polling/WJW-TV Fox 8 Cleveland survey of Ohio voters found Brown leading 42 percent support to 32 percent in a match-up with Republican businessman Bernie Moreno.

Against Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose, Brown leads by 5 points, with 41 percent to LaRose’s 36 percent. Back in October, LaRose was up by 1 point.

An incumbent polling under 43% does not bode well.

Ohio is solid red, but always re-elects Sherrod. Ohioans don’t like change.

“I am sure Ronna will be right on it”

Sure she will (yes I know you were being sarcastic).

Brown has already raised over $20 million and will be getting a ton more over the next several months.

The top 2 Republicans *combined* can’t even match that.

The GOP doesn’t exactly have the A Team (whoever that would be — Jim Jordan, perhaps) running here:

Matt Dolan: liberal RINO scum who tried to derail J.D. Vance last time around. Mitch McConnell would adore him.

Frank Larose: moderate squish with no money yet, though at least he actually holds a statewide office; but he’s probably just Josh Mandel 2.0 (terminal loser when it really counts).

Bernie Moreno: alleged conservative, dying for Trump’s endorsement but not polling well enough for that yet.

And there we go...people are gonna RISE UP...
they can see what the dumblecrats do and they gonna smack ‘em silly! [Now, these are preliminary polls and the races have not even begun, BUT there is not a huge swell of dis-satisfaction evident.]

This coupled with last week’s abortion debacle colors this state purple as hell.

Or red strength is pretty shallow.

The Democrats have their marketing template - “defend women’s healthcare to protect families”, “protect healthcare for the hardworking families”, “protect our children’s education”, etc. This rhetoric and marketing worked to help get strong support for the far-left agenda from voters in multiple deep-red states, so it most certainly will work in states that are more marginal. Strong majorities oppose this agenda in these states, but strong majorities voted in favor of it. Issue 1 in Ohio - very small minority in Ohio supports abortion up until birth, but a strong majority voted for it. The marketing worked, was well funded, and the opposition had far less resources to counter the false narrative. It was portrayed as the family values vote to vote in favor unlimited abortion.

They will prevail again if the conservative base continues to sit on their behinds and keep their wallets closed. Happened in 2018, 2020, 2022, and again in 2023. No reason to believe they’ll wake up for 2024, and just let the Democrats crush us as their own base forks over the cash to fund their candidates and agenda.

Bernie Moreno is a good conservative, businessman and Trump supporter who is little known. If the state GOP would get behind him he could make up some ground. But the GOP in Ohio is a closed group who are not just indifferent but deaf to the cries of the people. Frank LaRose is a run of the mill party guy, likewise little known. You never hear about him or hear his name in the news.

Brown is a fixture, who has done little or nothing his entire career but then he has sole support of the rat party and has stirred little animosity. Ohio still has a large contingent of low information voters who are used to believing whatever they are told. They assume they should vote for the rat incumbents, just because that’s what they do.

Wrong. Moreno has Trump’s endorsement. He was set to run in 2020 but Trump convinced him to stand down in favor of Vance. He did, took one for the people, and earned Trump’s gratitude. Now it should be his turn, but the GOP couldn’t care less about this race. With all that’s at stake, they sit around with their thumbs in their butts, playing stupid inside baseball in Columbus.

"Moreno has Trump’s endorsement."

No he doesn't. Not unless he got it in the last few minutes:

https://ballotpedia.org/Endorsements_by_Donald_Trump#2024

He has Trump's *encouragement*, he does NOT have an official endorsement. And Trump would surely tell you that's not the same thing, not when the all important Trump Winning Percentage is at stake.

Moreno is probably going to have to get way out in front of Larose and Dolan to get an actual endorsement, and that doesn't appear to be close to happening yet.

Jim Jordan. That settles it.

Go for broke. Don’t play it safe.

I like that idea.

But Jordan seems very comfortable where he is, a very conservative but very low-profile member of the GOP House “leadership” (such as it is).

Jordan didn’t want to be Speaker, either back in January or after McSquish was removed. He likely doesn’t want to be a Senator either — or maybe he wouldn’t mind BEING one, he just doesn’t like the part where he’d have to run for it.

Peema-he’s afraid he’d lose. Let the JV team lose.

6 year terms mean no campaigning but then redistricting keeps most of them safe.

Sherrod Brown actually told me once, “Let’s have amnesty first. Then we can talk about how high to build a wall and how many border patrol agents we need.” I told him to go F*** himself.
