Actor John Travolta highlighted his close relationship with Kirstie Alley in a touching tribute to the late actress after news broke Monday she had died from cancer.
Travolta, who co-starred in a series of films with the stunning actress, posted two photos to Instagram Monday of Alley with a brief, but heartfelt message.
“Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had,” he wrote. “I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”
Alley, the two-time Emmy-winning star of the renowned sitcom “Cheers” was 71. Her death was announced by her two children.
“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away from a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” part of the post stated.
The number and variety of celebrities paying tribute to her indicates how much she was truly loved within an acting community that is notoriously fickle. She must have been someone truly special.
Don’t even get me started on the untold billions spent on AIDS research in trying to cure a disease that is almost 100% preventable.
Kirstie lived near me on the Applegate River in So. Oregon. My best friend who passed years ago got to know her well
She was a pleasant, funny lady. Conservative. Her children were adopted.
Ted Danson?
Whoopi Goldberg's former Boy-Toy love stick?
The guy who left his wife and family for a sexual romp with Whoopi?
That Ted Danson?
.
Even heavy she still remained beautiful. To me her beauty was criminal lol. But yeah, too bad she had to struggle so with the weight.
Her first cousin is/was Bruce Litzke. Professional golfer back in the day.
We hear so very much about the "Race for the Cure" and Susan G. Komen. That's all great. Currently the 5-year survival rate for "localized" breast cancer is 99% and the overall 5-year survival rate is 90%.

I'm going to say that's about as "mission accomplished" as we're going to get in any practical sense. And noting in passing that breast cancer occurs almost exclusively in women and can be screened for with a mammogram.
Meanwhile the 5-year survival rate for "localized" pancreatic cancer ia 42% and the overall 5-year survival rate is 11%. Pancreatic cancer affects men and women with men slightly more than women. One of the big problems is that by the time it's diagnosed it's almost always too late. The equivalent of a mammogram does not exist.

Ukraine situations come and go. What would have really helped is the trillions that were wasted on the stupid virus.
I think it made her even more approachable, for lack of a better word. I knew she was conservative, too, so she seemed to be a regular gal, not a beauty queen.
Yep, let's mobilize and find some better treatments for cancer.
I remember her most from Cheers. Rest in peace, Kirstie.
And Montgomery was overrated. He should have been relieved of command after his failure to take Caen and the concurrent failure of Operation Goodwood. He really should have been relieved of command after the disaster of Operation Market Garden which failed to get across the Rhine.
But we digress.
My mother only lasted a couple weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
Bad pancreas was inherited by me and after the fire I couldn’t get enzymes and have had pancreatitis ever since. Got down to 81 lbs. It’s just a matter of time now.
Sad. I liked Kirstie in Star Trek. She has terrible weight problems that probably helped shorten her life. RIP.
Wow, I was on a plane (United) yesterday and watched that same episode. It was hilarious. I hadn't seen an episode of Cheers in twenty years, but for some reason was drawn to that one. After returning home, I learned she had died.
Prayers for you!
I don't know anything about a fire, but can you not get enzymes now because of a fire injury?
Heard she died of colon cancer. I don’t think that her weight played into it much.
There was a close friend on Fox, along with actor Will Cain, this morning and he said she had lower back pain and she was found to have colon cancer.
