New York Attorney General Letitia James has rejected an offer to settle a civil suit against former President Donald Trump’s company, the Trump Organization, and is said to be targeting one of Trump’s children, according to the New York Times.
The Times reported:
The New York attorney general’s office has rebuffed an offer from Donald J. Trump’s lawyers to settle a contentious civil investigation into the former president and his family real estate business, setting the stage for a lawsuit that would accuse Mr. Trump of fraud, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.
The attorney general, Letitia James, is also considering suing at least one of Mr. Trump’s adult children, the people said. Ivanka, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., have all been senior executives at Mr. Trump’s company, the Trump Organization.

Ms. James, a Democrat who is running for re-election in November, is focused on whether Mr. Trump fraudulently inflated the value of his assets and has mounted a three-and-a-half-year inquiry that has cemented her as one of the former president’s chief antagonists. Mr. Trump, who has denied all wrongdoing and derided the investigation as a politically motivated witch hunt, has fired back at her, filing an unsuccessful lawsuit to block her inquiry and calling Ms. James, who is Black, a racist.

There are a few things about this case that never made any sense. Perhaps, the media doesn’t report the details and how they align with the law and reality for that matter. How does one fraudulently inflate the value of assets? First, their value is only known for a moment in time. That moment is when they are sold. Second, how is a bank defrauded when they loan money based on collateral? Anyone that ever bought, sold or borrowed against real estate or another valuable asset know that the bank is going to assess the value of the property. If the bank doesn’t do due diligence, then same on them. What am I missing here and why doesn’t anyone in the media every mention these things?
The NY AG is well aware that the biden administration is unjustly prosecuting its political enemies and is happy and willing to be a part of that.
Yep, using the power of government agencies to persecute political opponents needs to be a prosecutable offense.

You are CORRECT-—The due diligence regarding property values VS loan value is up to the LENDER.
ANYONE who has ever actually OWNED real estate knows this.
Is this the case where Trump DONATED acres of Westchester County property?
IIRC he wanted to build a fabulous golf course and they wouldn’t let him.
The property was appraised and this woman says it was too high a figure?
I haven't investigated this deeply, but if memory serves me correctly then Real Estate Tycoon, Donald Trump, had to appeal an initial valuation of his properties.
So they are trying to criminalize looking after your own self interest.
At the time I believe the banks were trying to squeeze Mr Trump pretty hard and he didn't crumble and take the dictates of the banksters on Wall Street.
But in the scheme of things you are not missing anything. It's a witch hunt plain and simple.
