Tonga’s eruption injected so much water into Earth’s atmosphere that it could weaken ozone layer

When an underwater volcano in Tonga erupted in January, it belched out more than ash and volcanic gases; it also spewed 58,000 Olympic-size swimming pools' worth of water vapor into Earth's atmosphere, a new study finds.

This water vapor could end up being the most destructive part of the volcano's eruption because it could potentially exacerbate global warming and deplete the ozone layer, according to the study.

When the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano erupted on Jan. 15, it became the most powerful explosion on Earth in more than 30 years, with an equivalent force of 100 Hiroshima bombs.

Is there a way that that could be taxed?

I thought water was the one greenhouse gas one never had to worry about, because it can just rain or snow out. Yet here this article is, handwringing about the most abundant greenhouse gas by far.

I’m amazed that this even got published. Only the extreme crazy claim volcanoes are caused by humans.

Man-made global warming is mostly volcanoes.

Nuts, we can top that.

Please send Greta Thunberg to Tonga, via Taylor Swift or John Kerry’s jet, and let her proclaim “How dare you, volcano!”

Wait!
You mean volcano eruptions could cause a hole in the ozone layer?
...which was first noted [scientifically] in 1985.
...so we had to curb our use of CFCs.
...and no mention of volcanoes.

At night the earth cools. It rains. End of water vapor.

I believe it was meteorologist Joe Bastardi on Rush’s show a few years back who said water vapor in the atmosphere heats the planet hundreds to thousands times more than carbon does. Basically saying that the whole vilification of carbon is political theater

This water vapor could end up being the most destructive part of the volcano's eruption

Or it could not.

If the "experts" knew they would not have said "could".

“..Basically saying that the whole vilification of carbon is political theater..”

Yep. It’s just another scheme to institute massive “legalized theft” (taxes) from the “unwashed masses” to the benefit of our wonderful, kind and generous elites. /s

Yeah, and the idea of ozone being depleted... the ozone layer is fed by high atmospheric lightning, which creates O3 from O2. O3 is highly unstable and requires constant replenishment...too bad there is no known natural way for this to happen. /s

There are those words again, could & might. Bad science being promulgated by 2 little words that do not mean does or will that require action. So, science runs on words that need investigation, instead of 2 words that mean action required.

Damn the investigation, bad science is going full steam ahead ahead with action instead. The results of bad science almost always leads to disaster.
