Connecticut conservative, pro-life candidates fight on despite opposition (vanity)

Conservative statewide candidates are gaining support among Republican voters in Connecticut. Several face uphill odds against establishment/pro-Abort Republican candidates. The August 9th closed primary is 75 days away. Here's a review of recent events and candidate info with discussion to follow in the thread.

1. The DEM legislature passed a radical abortion access expansion bill in May .... signed by Gov Lamont. Allows nurses and midwives to perform abortions! Many of the candidates for higher office are on record with their vote on that legislation. A link to the roll call is in this thread.

2. GOV & LT GOV run as a team on the November ballot. GOP LT GOV candidate Devlin voted YES on the abortion expansion bill! GOV candidate Stefanowski has had every chance to indicate opposition and refuses to do so. "“The leaked Supreme Court opinion doesn’t change anything here in Connecticut. In Connecticut, a woman’s right to choose is fully protected under state law,” Bob Stefanowski, the Republican nominee for governor, said in an email. He has studiously avoided deeper conversations about abortion before the nominating convention, communicating by text or email and ignoring inquiries about whether he agreed with the recent vote for an abortion rights bill by Devlin.". CT Mirror. Link below.

3. SENATE: Long-time pro-Abort Themis Klarides is the endorsed candidate in the primary. Her sister voted YES on the abortion bill. She is opposed by two conservative top-notch candidates: Peter Lumaj & Leora Levy. Links below.

4. Secretary of State: Endorsed candidate Terrie Wood is a liberal Republican who voted YES on the abortion bill. She is opposed by 2 conservatives: Rapini & Weber. Links below.

5. Attorney General candidate Jessica Kordas is a newcomer and looks promising. Link to interview below.

6. Treasurer candidate Harry Arora voted NO on the abortion bill.

7. Comptroller candidate Mary Fay includes LGBT activism in her campaign. Forget it!

8. There will be third-party candidates on the ballot in November to draw support away from these unworthy Republicans

9. CD-2 candidate Mike France voted NO on the abortion expansion bill. He'll do well, if he runs a few times. In CD-5, George Logan was too quick to say "I support a woman's right to choose", but didn't clarify his position.

I don't see any reason to expend any energy to support some of these Republicans in November. There's some fine candidates on the ballot in August.

Look for links below.

Some of the far-left socialist Democrats have opposition in their August primary.

Connecticut Republican Assembly (CTRA) is an organized conservative (fiscal and social) wing of the Republican Party.

We are fighting tooth and nail to restore integrity to the Republican Party - check us out and check out our endorsed candidates (like Leora Levy and Dom Rapini) before you vote in the primaries.

In the Democrat primary:

Secretary of State:
Leftists Matt Lesser & Stephanie Thomas are opposed by New Haven’s Maritza Bond. Hilda dropped out.

State Treasurer:
Attorney Erick Russell says he likes to campaign with his husband.
Dubois-Walton is being supported by communists in the WFP.
They are opposed by hedge funder Dita Bhargava

I’d be interested in hearing your reasons for Levy over Lumaj and Rapini over Weber

Suzio and Markley are out, CT is lost and is looking to be even more lost.

There are 25,000 conservatives in CT who can continue on ... regardless of who is out and who is in.

I’m reminded of a certain right-wing crowd that ran a telephone hit campaign ad against David Walker in support of Heather Somers. The ad claimed Walker was a closet DEM and a Clintonista.

Republican primary results, 2014 LT GOV
Party . . . . Candidate . . . Votes . . %
Republican Heather Bond Somers 26,980 34.46
Republican Penny Bacchiochi 26,311 33.06
Republican David M. Walker 25,014 31.94
Total votes . . . . . . . . . 78,305 100.00

I supported Walker, a few reasons not to support the other two.

There were only 12 GOP in the CGA who voted for the Abortion expansion bill earlier this month. One of the 12 was Senator Heather Somers. Radical pro-Abort ... always has been.

Are her supporters expressing outrage?
