President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris led official Washington in a second day of tributes for the late Sen. Bob Dole on Friday at Washington National Cathedral, a day after Biden honored his longtime colleague in the Capitol Rotunda.
Former President Bill Clinton, who defeated Dole in the 1996 election, and former Vice President Mike Pence were among the prominent attendees, sitting one row apart.
Former President Donald Trump, for whom Dole repeatedly expressed support, was not present.
Also in attendance was actor Tom Hanks.

The swamp rats of both parties would rather chew their own legs off than invite Trump to their state event, even though Dole described himself as a Trumper as recently as last summer.
The last thing they want is to do anything which would confer legitimacy on the man.

He would be a major distraction to take away from the funeral of a hero.

He's a living former president and Senator Dole was one of his strongest supporters. These are exactly the types of things that former presidents are supposed to be doing. I can't imagine anything stopping him from asserting his role as a living former president to attend and deliver a poignant eulogy.

Tom Hanks and Bob Dole were involved in WWII memorial. I will assume they became friends during that time and Hanks is doing the right thing by respecting Dole.
