Physicists detect signs of neutrinos at Large Hadron Collider

The international Forward Search Experiment team, led by physicists at the University of California, Irvine, has achieved the first-ever detection of neutrino candidates produced by the Large Hadron Collider at the CERN facility near Geneva, Switzerland.

In a paper published today in the journal Physical Review D, the researchers describe how they observed six neutrino interactions during a pilot run of a compact emulsion detector installed at the LHC in 2018.

Some years ago I had a sort of bet going about the Hadron collider with a person I have been a fan of for a long time, an author on occult subjects who was also interested in physics. This was a relativity-vs-string theory argument - please note that personally I don't think relativity and string theory are mutually exclusive.

It's not religion, people! That's why we do experiments over and over, because we don't take things for granted.

I once had a neutrino hat. I told the purchasing manager that a neutrino was a type of stable isotope. He said it was a type of fermion. I was disappointed.
