Hope that this is not a duplicate. I remember him in Quantum Leap (shown up here on Vision TV) and also Beverly Hills Cop 2.

Good actor. I always confused him with Harry Dean Stanton and tried to remember which one was still alive. That’s not a problem anymore. RIP, Al.

I enjoyed his roles. A very good character actor. I have no idea what his politics are…the way it should be, thanks you Mr. Stockwell. RIP, you did good!

From wiki:
Stockwell was an “avowed environmentalist”. He campaigned for the Democratic Party in the 1992 U.S. presidential election.
Pretty tame compared to some of today’s lunatics.
RIP

I mainly remember him as a child star. He was in several favorites - Stars in My Crown, The Happy Years, Kim, The Secret Garden, Song of the Thin Man. RIP.

When I saw the title that Quantum Leap star dead, I thought it was the other guy Scott Bakula as he was the main star. I figured it couldn’t be him as I would never guess he was even close to 80 more like 60 something. Never really watched the show but I saw a video compilation and Dean Stockwell’s character was a holigram only Scott Bakula could see. Vaguely remember that aspect, but anytime I think of Quantum Leap, the actor I think of is Scott Bakula. Just like with the A-Team (another show I never watched) the only star I think of is Mr. T. No idea of any other actors names on that show either.

I’m a big Columbo fan and Stockwell was obviously well liked by Peter Falk as he starred in at least 2 Columbos. One as a piano player on a Cruise ship (he’s suspected of murder) and another as the son of a sports magnate. He gets a block of ice to the head in that one by Robert Culp.

I have the one of him as the son of a sports magnate in my DVD collection (season 2 “The Most Crucial Game”). That is the same season as one of my favourites, “Dagger of the Mind”.

Decades ago we saw an old movie on TV, “The Happy Years”, when he was a boy. It was hilarious at the time. Not sure if I’d think so now, but maybe.

He was great in Married to the Mob, as just one role of the many many he played. All the way back to Compulsion, a dramatization fo the Leopold and Loeb case. RIP.
