Another dead actor? What’s for lunch?
I just discovered “The Green Years” recently. The first half with him and Charles Coburn are priceless. RIP to a hard working, accomplished actor.
It is one of my favorites. Not hilarious, but sweet, charming and funny. Besides Stockwell, Leon Ames, the perfect Gilded Age Dad plays his father (as he would in several other Victorian era films). It is based on "The Lawrenceville Stories" and tells of an incorrigible young punk who is sent to Lawrenceville School to hopefully grow up and start acting like a young man. He starts out rebellious but eventually matures and bonds with the other boys. Leo G Carroll is also on hand as the headmaster. Great movie, directed by William Wellman.
Not to forget “Anchors Aweigh” with Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson and José Iturbi.
Believe that’s from Beverly Hills Cop 2 and he played the gun club manager.
he was a good actor. I JUST watched a 1971 Columbo with him in it. (I’m watching all the episodes of Columbo; they’re great)
“Boy with the Green Hair” and “Hidden Garden” (I think that was the title)
Glad you confirmed that. Now I’ll have to see if I can find it and re-watch. It was so good back when we saw it that I never forgot it — and I basically CRS from that long ago.
That was a funny movie.......Dean was great as the mob boss.
Loved the scene when he cold-bloodedly Alec Baldwin for shtumping his girlfriend.
TCM shows it periodically. I have a DVD of it from Warner Archive. I would not be surprised if TCM shows it fairly soon as a tribute to Stockwell upon his passing.
Great. I’ll keep an eye out. Sometimes one of the obscure channels via Roku show these, too.
Rest in peace
I recently watched the new 2021 Dune movie, and more recently the Dune SciFy 2000 eras series, and lastly I will be watching the 1984 David Lynch Dune movie, and I will look forward to seeing Dean Stockwell playing the role of Dr. Yeau in this. Thanks for the picture preview.
He was pretty good as Gen. Sheridan in “Son of the Morning Star”.
Wow ! Thank you for that bit of trivia, the "Thin Man" series is one of my favorites.
IMHO, the pacing, dialog and screen chemistry between Powell and Loy overcomes the dated style of filmmaking from that era.
He was the lead in ‘The Dunwich Horror’ 1970. A decent role in one of many failed attempts by movie makers to bring HP Lovecraft to the screen.
There was word that Guillermo del Toro might be making a Lovecraft story but it didn’t happen, yet anyway.
He was Ben in Blue Velvet, the candy colored clown.
