What’s Left Of The ‘Mainstream’ Republican Party Is Looking Around And Getting Nervous

The ascendancy of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Republicans’ lack of willpower to punish her, speaks volumes about where the party still is even after President Donald Trump’s defeat.

Only 11 Republicans joined the entire House Democratic caucus to strip her of her committees Thursday night; by contrast, 61 Republicans voted to demote Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) for voting to impeach Trump for inciting the Capitol attack.

That the Trump-Greene sect of the party has such power and support does not necessarily portend future electoral success. After all, during Trump’s term alone, Republicans lost the House, Senate and White House. In particular, they lost both seats in a double-barrel Georgia Senate runoff that, by all historical precedent, they should have won.

With the 2022 midterms on the horizon, again a cycle that historical trends suggest should be good for the GOP, there is a niggling concern that the loud, extremist part of the party could give Democrats their best shot at staving off the onslaught.

This article is delusional, but is illustrative of Establishment thinking, which is "REAL conservative candidates cause democrats to win so we must only nominate milque-toast pantywaists so we might have a CHANCE at winning elections."

But at the same time, republicans just won ALL 27 tossup House races, picking up 12 seats in the House when the Commentariat told us they'd lose up to 15. The Democrats expected to pick up at least ten legislative chambers. They didn't gain ANY and lost three. There's a five seat Dem majority in the House and the Senate is evenly divided only through shenanigans in Georgia and hand-picked milque-toast governor-appointed candidates such as Martha McSally and Kelly Loeffler.

Democrats are holding onto power by a mere thread so they write these stories trying to convince Republican elites to PLEASE return to Gerald Ford republicanism.

Nice try. Those days are OVER!

Never any mention of the extremists in the demonrat party, but when you can just steal elections anyway, why worry?

The repubs don’t get it at all.

We are ANGRY. If Brian Kemp is the republican candidate for governor in 2022 he WILL LOSE. Republican voters will sit out the election. If will affect down ballot races.

Of course if Georgia doesn’t tighten up their election laws it won’t matter anyway.

On the topic of MTG, everyone should ask why the jihadi caucus/Squad hasn’t already been tossed out of the House

....2020 Republicans lost the House, Senate and White House......and both seats in a
double-barrel Georgia Senate runoff that, by all historical precedent, they should have won.....

The ONE AND ONLY reason these races were (cough) "lost" is due to the machinations of
power-mad Democrats pulling off a number of collusive high-jinks for the sole purpose of grabbing power.

Democrats' frightening power-madness has become even more pronounced since the election.

Reining in Democrats is the biggest job Republicans face. Achieving this will be a challenge
but we, the people, must let Republicans know they will be amply rewarded by a grateful America.

She’s gonna change the world, she is. Just watch her go! Interesting that she chose to use “niggling”.

The commies seem to be able to get quite a bit done with their 50 member senate.

And when the repubs had 56 or so what was the cry?

“We can’t repeal commie care without 60 repubs.”

Whether you want to go into RINO ideology or not is irrelevant.

No matter how you want to frame it, objectively, the party is not effective.

Trump-Greene “sect”? Kind of like a not so veiled term such as “Jonestown sect”.

“...the party is not effective.”

They are 95% “go along to get along” Uniparty grifters. They’re in it primarily for money from connections. Whatever Mr. Smith might have been in them was twisted out shortly after arrival in DC.

We now have taxation without representation for half of America’s citizens.

Think about that.

BS. The election was stolen. And everybody knows it, in spite of the lying media.
