By the time the month of August rolls off the calendar, there will have been a record number of Portland Police Bureau retirements. What that means is antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters’ demands that civil society “defund the police” and get “the pigs,” appear to be working in Portland, Oregon.
The cops are tapping out.
Portland – Antifistan – is on pace to lose the most cops ever to retirement.
So far this month, 15 Portland police officers have put in their official paperwork to retire at the end of the month. That sounds like a trifle, but there have been multiple appointments made to finalize the paperwork for more retiring cops that haven’t been counted in that number. The Bureau is on-trend to lose a “record number” of officers – maybe as many as 42 by the end of the month, and 100 by the end of the year, according to multiple knowledgeable officers who spoke to PJ Media.
An executive with the Portland Fire & Police Disability & Retirement department tells me that “this is probably the biggest [number of retirements] we’ve ever had.”

I have a cop friend in Seattle, cops there are transferring/retiring and moving onto jurisdictions that will respect them.

Portland policemen should be eternally ashamed of themselves. They are not police. Take your pensions losers at least you are sucking taxpayer money from filthy democrats which is about your only worthwhile accomplishment.
How many cops are employed by Portland PD? Only knowing that number, one may evaluate how significant those upcoming retirements are...

I totally disagree. These people are not being backed by the same people that are in charge of them. This is like sending troops to a war zone and the Pentagon not supporting them at all.
But OK, taking your statement as written, just what are the cops of Portland supposed to do when the police force and the city are under siege and the cops can do nothing about it?
If you were getting a figurative broom handle jammed up your arse every day with no relief in sight and had the opportunity to exercise your right of leaving the job you’d stick around and take the pounding?
Brown and Wheeler obviously want police out of Portland and people are leaving Portland in droves. It’s just like in NYC. You leave the streets to the deep state and people are going to flee. But that’s what deep state demon-rats want. It’s guerrilla warfare tactics. A lot of the terrorists arrested are not from Oregon. They have weapons and explosives now. Would you trust any mail in ballot counting from Portland?
Then again, if all that’s left are the lowlifes, they will eventually turn on each other.

Good point. It’s actually one of the cushiest job around. All you got to do is stand around and watch the show, and collect a lot of overtime. No need to get your hands dirty.
