As the election approaches, the left has apparently decided for its political purposes to embrace religion. Our Tim Graham has documented how the MSM is now portraying Joe Biden as deeply devout. And nary a week goes by that Nancy Pelosi doesn't flaunt her faith.
Morning Joe got into the spirit today. First, Joe Scarborough compared him to Jesus: "John Lewis was considered the conscience of Congress. He also was a Christian, who was Christ-like. You look at the Beatitudes, and so many of them apply to the life, day in and day out."
Jon Meacham upped the ante:
"You know, the secular and the sacred intersect in the Rotunda at moments like that. And Lewis was, in fact, I believe, a genuine saint, in the classic New Testament sense of the term."
And liberals, of course, often deride conservatives who offer their "thoughts and prayers." Here, for example, is Dana Milbank of the Washington Post denouncing "thoughts and prayers" as a "cruel joke." But commenting on news that Herman Cain is on oxygen for treatment of COVID, Scarborough said:
"Our prayers, and our thoughts, are certainly with him."
Sincere, or sarcastic?

“thoughts and prayers”
The thoughts and prayers are not an issue, but to WHOM they are addressed is.
The left champions secularism. They fabricated “separation of church and state.” Obama derided people who cling to religion.
But with the election approaching, the left now embraces faith for political purposes.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
MoUrning Joe is fast running out of material, to dispense to his brain-dead audience.
All regenerate Christians are genuine saints in the classic New Testament sense of the term."
If tattoos were brains, the mob would be geniuses.
Coming out of morning Waldo, it’s 100% sarcastic.
“John Lewis was considered the conscience of Congress. He also was a Christian, who was Christ-like. You look at the Beatitudes, and so many of them apply to the life, day in and day out.”
Like the time he was on ATL urban radio on Election Day urging blacks to get out and elect black candidates, or white republicans would turn fire hoses on them and sic dogs on them. FU, John Lewis. I hope you rot...
When they throw this much confetti on a coffin I suspect they are covering up a lot of chicken manure.
“The thoughts and prayers are not an issue, but to WHOM they are addressed is.”
You are correct, sir (or madam) -to be read while picture Ed McMahon)
John Lewis was a run of the mill race baiter, who won his stripes by getting hit in the head with a brick during the march on Selma. Best thing that ever happened to him, as he used it to make himself a hero and get elected to a safe seat in the House. Otherwise no one would have ever heard of him.
Yes, he was able to parley that into a lifetime of ease and riches, far beyond the possibilities of ancient kings.
Great evil was done in his name.
I miss the days when the freaks came out at NIGHT.
What is that thing a couple rows back from goathead?
That doesn’t even look like a human with a mask.
Great point :-)
John Lewis ‘Christlike, Saint,’
Oh, COME ON!
He did some historically important things in the Civil Rights Movement. This much is true. He was also one of the leading offenders in saying stupid things during his decades-long political career which followed.
I hope he accepted Christ and was welcomed into the Kingdom.
But none of us are Christlike Saints.
I ain’t a madame...I’m a concioige!
:-)
(((Let’s see how many people get this!)))
IIRC, it was Democrats who turned fire hoses and sicced dogs on civil rights protesters. John Lewiss memory is as bad as Joe Bidens.
