Monday on CNNs New Day, Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender defended her councils attempt to disband the Minneapolis police department following the death of George Floyd.
Bender said, I think in Minneapolis, watching George Floyds death, and the actions of the four police officers that were involved has been a huge wake-up call for so many in Minneapolis to see what many already knew, which is that our police department is not keeping every member of our community safe. And so I think step one for us is to tell the truth. Nine council members from communities all across the city of all different backgrounds, standing together, to tell the truth, and say, this system isnt working for too many of our neighbors for too long. Our reform efforts have failed, and we have done many, many attempts at reform and new leadership in the department and many things, and we still see this tragic death. And so I think the wake-up of our community is whats driving the city councils announcement yesterday. And now the hard work begins for us to rebuild systems that really work to keep all of our communities safe.
Host Alisyn Camerota asked, But to be clear, youre not talking about reform. The word dismantle is intentionally different than reform. This is more than reform. This is dismantling. I mean, activists who support this are calling this a police-free future.

Time to form Citizen Militias under the Second Amendment.
“The response to violence works both ways. Neighborhoods will form their own armed patrols with swift, and permanent, justice meted out.”
and without a police department, who’s going be able to stop vigilante actions?
without a police department you just end up with anarchy or the wild-wild west where there was either no law or vigilante law ...
“Based on the demographics she may never have to call the police. “
that would rapidly change without a police department, because rich neighborhoods would be far more lucrative for burglars and home invaders than ghetto neighborhoods ... and then of course as other FReepers have pointed out, no one, rich or poor, big biz or small biz, would be able to buy any form on insurance ...
A rhetorical question for sure.
911 operators just need to ask the race of the caller. If black, respond.
If white, good luck.
The discussion on whether to include hispanics, asians, etc. should be interesting.
The Left wants The Purge to be reality, except it won’t be limited to 24 hours. What The Left fails to realize is that we have more weapons.
They’ve always been full retard. There were council members running on this platform to eradicate the police dept.
If the real law enforcement apparatus disappears in the T-C, it doesn't take a Nostradamus to see those scummy muzzies filling the gap with their sharia chit.
That would probably really tickle the BLMers funny-bone.
YThere is a lot of noise about our weapons and stockpiles of ammo. Missing is the will to take the offence and actually use them
Blacks call police for help 7 times as frequently as whites and other inconvenient truths
```
They are the privileged blacks and they will understand when their homes are broken into, their women raped, domestic violence incidents will be something to behold, when they have to pay the armed BLM Islamic religious police for ‘protection’.
How much of the city is left to loot and burn? Without real police the rest of it will go.
Bender said, Yes, I mean, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors, and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege. Because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done.
The attentive reader will notice that Bender didn't answer the question. She deflected it with an accusation of privilege, as if it were somehow racist to expect police protection from a city to which the citizen is paying taxes for precisely that. Stupid, yes. Stupid and evil, yes.
Our side doesn’t want to fight, we just want to live our lives. The Left, I fear, will not allow that and so we will forced to fight.
Lord, reading this reminds me of living in Santa Cruz, California in the mid 1980s after I got out of the Marines.
I guarantee you that every business in the Minn-StPaul area is right now working on a plan to relocate to safer location should the Police Dept get de-funded. Those who cannot move are working on plans that include private security budget increases ... on-site guards, more cameras, etc. Any business that cannot do either of those things will close up shop, clean out the bank account, and most likely leave the state.
The tax revenue stream will evaporate. Obviously none of those Minn city council folks are bright enough to realize the impact of their actions.
This is absolutely what they are aiming for.
So when the taxpayers decide to burn down the parasite hood, anyone expecting “help” is privileged? I can live with that.
There will be order, and even rules of sorts. Just not the rules to which we are accustomed today. The people who enforce the new rules will do so with decisive actions from which there will be no appeal.
Everybody will hate the new rules. But people crave order more than chaos. They will mostly submit to the new authorities.
Camerota asked, What if, in the middle of the night, my home is broken into? Who do I call?
As a white person who, after all this can likely expect no help at all from the powers that be, Im calling Smith & Wesson. It will be an extremely short-distance call.
It would be a lot easier to remove the dopey counsel members raising this issue instead.
They do not care.
As long as there is someone left who will obey their orders they will be content. The ultimate proof of power is to give insane directions to people who then follow them with visible displays of obedience. The more destructive the orders the better for demonstrating power. That is the entire point of the exercise.
Don't expect things to get better.
