How can we evict teachers unions from our towns?

Posted on 06/06/2020 11:28:08 AM PDT by cradle of freedom

Does every town and city in our country have a teachers union? What if all of the red voting towns and cities kicked out the teachers unions out of their schools? We would not be empowering them with our tax money and our schools would not be places of leftist indoctrination.

It would absolutely go to the courts and you’d have to hope it goes in front of the right one.

Hope your state passes right to work law or move to one that already has it.

There are NO unions left in the United States that are NOT Antifa at heart.

Change my mind.

It’s not the teachers unions alone. It’s the teachers themselves.

It's ABSURD for teachers to be in a union. Unions belong to those who work with hands. Teachers are professionals like lawyers, bankers, corporate executive.

I was the ONLY instructor in my department (huge department of 68 instructors) who was NOT in the union. NO ONE gave me any guff. They KNEW what I would say.

I believe, but not sure, that in right to work states teachers can opt out of their union if they want to. Problem is with peer pressure and being ostracized. Even threats of bodily harm.

I’m a step a head of you. I have a kindergarten teacher down the block from me and I’ve been chasing her all around with broomstick telling her to hop on the next Greyhound out of town.

If you want to improve schools, I suggest you loot and burn your neighborhood. It seems to work for the raciest sjw movement.

It’s not the teachers unions alone. It’s the teachers themselves.

The ONLY reason why so many teachers run off at the mouth is because they have tenure. Tenure is the BIGGEST rip-off in modern times. They CAN'T be fired.

Lol. But school districts can "punish" teachers by sending them to crappy schools.

Maybe you can just GIVE her the broomstick and she will fly away.

Teachers unions are tenacious and militant. Very tough to get out even in right to work states they manage to keep very high membership in the schools. They use vicious tactics and intimidation. They are among the highest of the rat contributors.

Maybe nothing. Virus fears have shut the schools, and kids are learning at home. Lots of pros & cons, but time may answer that question. Now pensions, OTOH, may take a long while to sort out.

You might want to reconsider:

What must be done is difficult to do. Conservative parents and business leaders need to hit the streets and gather the votes to win school board elections. Usually it takes two to three election cycles to take over a school board. Not a lot of votes are often needed, several hundred usually. In the process of doing this, anyone running for school board needs to be prepared for personal attacks on them and their children. Expect vandalism on your home. You will receive retribution from teachers and in the grades of your children. You will get cold shoulders or worse from progressive neighbors. Sticking together and having a support network is imperative.

Once the school board is controlled by conservatives, policies can be changed. New hires can be vetted. You have to wait for the current union contract to expire. Do not negotiate. The contract is over and non-binding on both sides. A strike will ensue. Hire new teachers and allow old teachers to break the picket line. Do not give in. No contract. No union. Do not rehire those that strike. Make it clear up front that this is what will happen and follow up on your word.

There are probably state labor relation laws that need to be looked into. I'm not a lawyer. If they stand in the way, they need to be changed first.

Not the same. CIDs are voluntarily joined. Teachers unions exist independent of the wishes of its constituency — even teachers themselves.

Same for SEIU and other public employee unions.

the union is made up of the teachers The teachers can de-certify if they don’t like the union. Unless you can prove a RICO charger financial crime the union will remain. Also the school board is suppose to represent the taxpayers and parents and students, not the union,. You elect the school board

If you get it out, another will most likely take its place.

I could post a couple of counter examples but those would be exceptions that prove the rule.
