An Atlanta gun store owner says he’s hoping that “no one will get hurt” after 42 handguns were stolen from his business over the weekend during looting sparked by the death of George Floyd.

Jim Hinsdale, the owner of Chuck’s Firearms in the Buckhead neighborhood, told Fox5 Atlanta on Tuesday that his store was burglarized for the first time in 50 years.

"They were here to take advantage of the opportunity of police not being able to be dispatched and address the normal crime," he said, adding that 42 semi-automatic handguns and revolvers were stolen from display cases, ranging in price from $500 to $4,200.

Why wasn’t Jim Hinsdale there to guard his store?

WTH? If I were a gun shop owner, I’d make it a top priority to live down there, 24/7 and ready to go. Hell, at least pack and vault it!

I remember the Riots in LA when the Koreans strapped up and got on their roofs to protect their property, they didn’t have a problem.

The leftist establishment is OK with rioters/looters having those guns. It’s NOT OK with normal, non-violent people having guns.

Guess it was too much trouble to put them in the vault every night and put them back out every day.

This being Buckhead, ain't no cheap guns there.

Yes, this seems like simple laziness or negligence on the part of the store owner.

I remember the Riots in LA when the Koreans strapped up and got on their roofs to protect their property, they didn’t have a problem.

These days, the police will arrest people who protect their own property. That direction comes from the local Democrat politicians, who do not want to confront the rioters.

Why didn’t the irresponsible bastard camp out in his store?

Knowing there are riots in the streets I would never abandon that many fire arms. I would enlist support and guard that store.

============================

Not only has that changed...now, a majority of Koreans vote Democrat...which of course makes their own situation worse.

Full disclosure: I am NOT a fan of Chucks. I've had run-ins with them.

That said, WTF is ANY gun store leaving firearms in display cases overnight??? EVERYTHING SHOULD GO INTO SAFES.

I blame them as much as the thieves.

When you install a curfew in a city , it should impact on all,
regardless if it is a peaceful protest, or a violent protest.
Anti-Fa uses 'scouts' on bicycles to determine where the police are located,
and which business and stores are unguarded.
The bicycle is highly mobile and can outrun most any civilian, and especially a guardsman encumbered by equipment.
Lock down all local cellphone communication and you control the and can identify the Anti-Fa communications,
and the effectiveness of the 'bicycle scouts'.
Comms among looting groups and 'scouts' are by usage of cellphones and the usage of certain apps.
Upon arrest of protest looters, their cellphones should be taken as evidence,
and investigated so as to identify criminal activity and other looters.

It’s not like the owner didn’t have fair warning.

Hell, I’d have closed for a few days.

The police in Minneapolis arrested the owner of a pawnshop who shot a looter in his store.

As they hauled him away, other looters cleaned out the store. None were arrested. The store owner remains in jail on murder charges.

This is an extreme, but by no means unique incident.

W.R.T.: a break-in at a gun store in Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, in which the store owner killed one of four men attempting to loot the inventory, and wounded another.

NBC reports the shooting comes after days of riots and looting, but now the owner might be in trouble.

The city’s mayor and police commissioner said later Tuesday they supported the rights of individuals to protect themselves and their property. But Mayor Jim Kenney said he was “deeply troubled at the ease with which another life has been taken amidst this chaos.” Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said officials don’t endorse “vigilante justice or taking the law into one’s own hands” and encouraged people to protect themselves through “safe, nonviolent” methods...

NBC reports the store owner was taken in for questioning.
