Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloombergs campaign slammed Sen. Bernie Sanders I-Vt. for circulating a 2016 video of Bloombergs comments on farming in which he said, You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn.. Bloombergs campaign manager Kevin Sheekey said that the comments were completely out of context.
The problem is that the rest of Bloombergs comments dont help him. Take his comparison to the information economy.
Now comes the information economy and the information economy is fundamentally different because its built around replacing people with technology and the skill sets that you have to learn are how to think and analyze, and that is a whole degree level different. You have to have a different skill set, you have to have a lot more gray matter.

Too late...Bloomers opened his haughty yap.
Learning to code and learning to analyze complex problems are apparently two different things, as demonstrated by the fact that an incredible fraction of folks in the IT business are in the tank for progressive fascism. Far from knowing how to think for themselves they just fall in line with what they are told.
And no offence meant to the obvious exceptions as demonstrated by the many freepers here who are in the IT business.
It’s not complicated. Mini Mike is an elitist leftist snob who thinks he is a superior form of life...as they all do.
No further analysis needed.
I have a degree in Agri-Business and have worked with farmers for 40 years.......The vast majority have far more common sense in their big toe than Bloomy has in his entire freakin 5’7” body.
This guy is a DISASTER for the Democrats. This is almost as much fun as watching Jeb Bush crash and burn.
I dont know how much this particular flub huts him. Farmers/ rural voters were too smart too vote for him even better he said this.
Better = before
This guys simplistic approach to agriculture is similar to Pol Pot’s, where the elites of that mob just gave city people some hand tools and were told to go out into the jungle and raise rice. Sadly, this approach fits with the Green New Deal where manual labor will have to replace all that hi tech diesel powered equipment that feeds the world.
These people are such mindless wonders. People that will be actually voting for this crap have no idea how efficient modern agriculture is and what their vote will do to harm their own well being.
Think Rhodesia that produced more food than the country could consume, by the time the lefties got done they were starving.
Youve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed. - Michael Bloomberg 2015 speech to the Aspen Institute
My own experience with farmers is nobody works harder. They were at one time the majority of Americans but they got so good at it we only need a fraction of them now.
The strangest thing is he is from NY, which has a LOT of farming. He never ventured far north of NYC, I guess - or he knows and just has a general contempt for manual labor (as well as ignorance of the role technology plays in modern farming).
I think it’s that bubble theory.
To the wealthy elites of NYC & LA the rest of us are really a nothing. Between the two is flyover country. South of NYC is the bible belt. They have no idea how we live or for what. They do not care.
The irony of it is that the Republican party is tagged with having the most elite rich assholes, when in fact it is the precise opposite.
Yeah, just like Republicans have “uneducated” voters while the urban illiterates flock to the Dems...
