You’re better off just buying a lottery ticket than trying to understand why comparing total number dead this year from flu and total number dead this year from CoV is a 3rd grade arithmetic error. But don’t worry, you will win the lottery.
Well then put all the flu in China and quarantine them.
There is nothing we can do about the flu that we aren’t already doing.
But we have a chance to stop the spread of Coronavirus or at least slow it down, until we have a better handle on treating it. Maybe delay it until summer and maybe it will largely die off on it’s own.
Gordon Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China, was on Stuart Varney this morning. Chang said that China has “lost control” of the virus.
As a scientist and mathematician, I really don’t care what folks think in such arenas.
If the truth were known, I’d bet $5 that well over 150,000 are dead and more than a million are infected. Chicoms lie bigtime.

Yeah only killed 565 in all of China. If thats so why cant crematoriums keep up with the disposals of bodies? They only have 1 in china? I see doctors with masks on treating people for the flu. Have yet to see them in bio hazard suits and resperators . Also have yet to see airlins stop service to Cleveland or Pittsburgh for the flu. This whole thing is one big Chicom lie. Its a bio-chemical weapon that got loose, and i wager just like their lie on how many Mao kiiled in the Great Leap Forward where he starved 65 million to death. No saying the count is that high, but it sure as hell ain 565!
So far, containment has worked outside of China. We think.
But your numbers are old. Your math is flawed.
Look at that Japanese cruise ship. 20 positives on the first pass. 41 more on the next pass - if I am not mistaken, those people tested negative first time around. And that’s in a contained, quarantined environment, with a limited number of potential hosts. Out in the wild, the virus would spread much more rapidly.
No news out of Africa or Central America, where the Chinese have a significant presence. I wonder what’s going on there.
In the end, “oh, it’s just another flu” is going to look very, very foolish. It’s NOT the flu and it has significantly different characteristics.
I’m more worried about the hysteria that’s developing.
The folks dying today we infected about two weeks ago...look at the estimated infection rate two weeks ago and compare that with current death number...oh boy. Deaths lag infections by two weeks....

No. Death due to flu is not unheard of. Those who are in weakened health, those who are susceptible to pneumonia, and others are likely to succumb

The only reason that Coronavirus has not spread rapidly in the US so far is due to Trump’s decisive action in banning all Chinese visitors and travellers to the USA.
Remember during Obama, there were still direct flights from Liberia to the US during the peak of the Ebola crisis as he was playing PC politics on health matters.
Trump bypassed the WHO and its third world doctors and acted decisively.
