The real target of the US assassination of Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani – China

The assassination of Iranian major-general Qassem Soleimani by the United States may be explained by US President Donald Trump’s administration as a retaliation against and deterrence of Iranian aggression but, in reality, it may actually be a strategic provocation against China. To understand why this is the case and see how this particular action is merely one piece of a larger puzzle, one must take into account all of America’s foreign policy actions.

Since the end of World War II, US foreign policy has been obsessed with how to maintain the nation’s superpower status. It maintains strong alliances like Nato and a military presence in virtually all corners of the planet as part of that strategy.

Over the years, influential policymakers such as Zbigniew Brzezinski have argued that the US must go further to ensure supremacy. For some, this includes designating Iran, Russia and China as enemies because the US doesn’t have total control over these countries, and stirring up Islamic extremism because all three of these countries have large Muslim populations that can be turned into terrorists against their own countries.

By creating Islamic extremism in these territories, the home-grown Muslim terrorists could then battle these foreign governments on behalf of the US, thus reducing the need to sacrifice American soldiers.

As a result, such proxy wars have become a permanent fixture on the world stage. The invasion of Iraq, the civil war in Syria, the bombing of Libya and many other actions have created extremist groups such as Islamic State that are direct threats to Iran, Russia and even China.

In the case of China, Uygur groups from the Muslim minority in China’s northwest, were armed with military weapons by outside forces. Uygur separatists proceeded to terrorise parts of Western China with bombings, stabbings and other violent means

Bizarro doesn’t even cover it. This article reads like it was written by the Central Military Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

Lots of words. What’s China going to do? Exactly what it has been doing.

“...US foreign policy has been obsessed with how to maintain the nation’s superpower status....”

Not true - The Clinton administration with Madamm Albrite as Secretary of State, and the Obama administration, both worked earnestly to reduce the American influence around the world. The Clinton/Albrite cabal empowered the EU solely to counter the US, saying it is not best for the US to be the only superpower (this was even said in her book).

They may say things like this in books, but how many countries did the U.S. abandon under Obummer? How many other countries did we actually acquire a presence in?

Now it’s true that Obummer’s actions in Iran strengthened the Iranian regime, but the addition of places lie Qatar and Syria (as well as others) to the list of growing US involvement signaled that the US was not really abandoning it’s interventionism.

The author has an active imagination.

[the addition of places lie Qatar]

Qatar wasn’t added. It was always there, especially since Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait convinced the Gulf kingdoms that their neighbors were once again a threat to their existence they hadn’t been since the advent of Pax Britannica (which transitioned to Pax Americana). That’s why they paid for this base to house American troops and equipment:

The reason we’re there is because, otherwise, any reasonably enterprising ruler can literally overrun the region before Uncle Sam can get off the ground. Saddam could have conquered all of the oil-producing Gulf kingdoms before the US could respond. He halted because he thought Uncle Sam would let him get away with erasing Kuwait from the map, but not anything beyond that. If he had moved against the 82nd and the 101st that were airlifted there in the days after Kuwait was occupied, he would almost certainly have eliminated both divisions, given their complete lack of heavy equipment (tanks and artillery) and air support. Our presence there today is a way of reducing the temptation that got Saddam’s military machine going.

Paranoia reveals ignorance and very very narrow thinking. The woman has no clue.

The Iranian general was killed to quell the gathering discontent among Kurds living in Paraguay. Not since the apparent end of Merkosur has there been such danger to the USA from Paraguay

It’s actually based in Hong Kong, and caters to Anglosphere (mostly American, Aussie and British) expats, who are generally not particularly pro-China. It also features plenty of articles and editorials that present a warts-and-all view of China. But it also presents Beijing’s view, which expats also need to know, because that view obviously provides a guide to future Chinese initiatives - pretty important for anyone working in Hong Kong’s finance or industrial sectors.

The US did NOTHING to encourage Arab Muslims to move to China.

The Chinese can’t blame us anymore than we can blame the Chinese for Arab Muslims moving to our country.

This piece is insane kool-aid drinker stuff.
