Vermont Gov. Phil Scott on Thursday became the first Republican governor to back House Democrats' call for an impeachment inquiry against President Trump.
Scott said at a news conference that he wasnt surprised by the allegations that Trump repeatedly urged Ukraines president to look into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden because hes watched him over the years. Trump had requested Ukraine look into Biden's attempt to pressure the nation into firing its top prosecutor, who was investigating a natural gas firm partially led by his son, Hunter.
Scott added, however, that he wanted to see more information before taking further action. The Vermont governor previously criticized Trump over his attacks on progressive House freshmen in the summer.
Like many across the country, I find these statements offensive, racist and certainly not what we expect from the leader of the greatest country in the world, he said, according to Valley News.
Other moderate Republican governors have yet to weigh in on an impeachment inquiry. When pressed by reporters, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said Wednesday he was withholding judgment. Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan have yet to comment.
RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA didn't work so now it's UKRAINE UKRAINE UKRAINE?
Vermont. Where is Bernie From? Case close.
As the impeachment drums beat faster and louder, watch for more Republican backstabbers to join the fray. They are like a pack of hyenas that cower in the darkness until another has made the kill or almost killed the prey to the point the prey is unable to fight back, them they attack en mass.
Trump has a blind spot because he’s really trying to unite the party and he wants a majority of he wins re-election. Everyone who is running needs to have a primary challenger. Period. That tacks them to the right until at least June-ish or 2020. Trump should either back their challenger or not endorse
We will remember:
1. Governor Scott
2. Willard Romney
3. Sasse
4. Cornyn
5. Weld
6. Mike Turner, bears watching
7. Collins

Amash, but he already jumped to the “independents”.
Vermont...say no more...place is a freak magnet...
Howie agree. I give Trump some 600-800 a year. He knows who is supportive and who is BS.

Why is he still in office? Can’t those who voted for him do a recall?
RNC chairwoman idiot, I don’t like her, needs to straighten this bastard up...NOW!!! Does anyone have his number? CALL HIM!!!
If one of these runs in your state, don’t sit back and wait for someone else to fight the battle. Organize, educate, expose the libs.
Amash would have been one, but he jumped ship already. Maybe Fred Upton if he is still around. I need to check.
Oh, Vermont. Vermonters are Republican the way Marylanders are Southerners.
I’ve had enough of Cornyn. I plan to actively donate and whatever else I can effectively do for his primary challenger.
Gee governors have a say in the impeachment process ? No ? Sod off Swampy bastage.
Just like each House of Congress has the express constitutional authority to expel a member on a two-thirds vote, until patriots wise up and get rid of the constitutionally undefined, 12th Amendment-ignoring political parties, ordinary citizens need to likewise have the power to expel political party members who are operatives for the other party.
After all, corrupt Congress cannot be trusted to expel bad-apple members. Desperate Democrats need the votes.
Insights welcome.
