President Trump announced Friday that he would un-sign the global arms pact known as the Arms Trade Treaty in the latest illustration of his aversion to international pacts and world governance.
We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom, Trump said during a speech before the National Rifle Association in Indianapolis. Im officially announcing today that the United States will be revoking the effect of Americas signature from this badly misguided treaty.
The origins of the treaty, which sets out international rules for sales and transfers of everything from small arms to large planes and ships, date to the George W. Bush administration. It was negotiated under the auspices of the United Nations and signed in 2013 under President Barack Obama but has never been ratified by U.S. lawmakers.

[Negotiated by W]
Did he say “See ya at the bill signing!” on that one too?
[signed by Obama in 2013]
Gosh it’s hard to believe they’re such good friends now. /s
Anerica... First.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
How about Trump rescind his Commie Bumpstock instead or are you okay with that kind of that of overreach by the executive branch on our God given to keep and to bear arms as long as its Republican doing it?
+.
The Senate never ratified it.
Thank you for posting that. I’ve been looking for one without any additional stuff on it for months.
I guess I am a ‘birther’.
The whole certification process was filled with inconsistencies and fishy business with Nancy Pelosi.
And if the Kenyan birth certificate is made up it would be an easy thing for Obama to prove that infant footprint on it isn’t his.
May God Bless and Keep our Dear President Trump!
You have to remember that FR is infested with the “they who walk on water” cult who know better than Trump. Only they and Jesus are true conservatives, and they have doubts about Jesus. They are perfect beings who know everything and hate you if you disagree.
Is this the treaty that restricted the import of older military surplus weapons? If it wasn’t ratified, were we still abiding by it? What are the ramifications of this unsigning?
I love this guy! This is what I voted for.
Trump unfortunately still has to go through the motions. Or else "impeachment," because "reasons."
The only image I want the “WORLD” to have of the USA is staring down the barrel of an M-14 Rifle.
yep
they like to think they know everything
Really?
Gee, and here I thought we were still in the League of Nations.
Boy howdy...ya learns all kinda stuff from FReepers!
When the GOP had both houses of Congress and the Presidency, many of us gun owners thought meaningful domestic legislation would be passed that would solidify and strengthen our 2nd Amendment rights.
Instead, we got worse than nothing. Trump even mocked Congressmen (on camera) who wanted to introduce National Reciprocity language.
Thanks for the BIG SIGNATURE on this whatever, but I see it as boob bait for the cameras. Our 2nd Amendment Rights are being eroded in the states, and the Supreme Court won't take up the cases to affirm them.
I am glad there is one other thinking person out there.
I'm glad that someone kept track of all of Obama's over-reaches, because I certainly couldn't keep up with them all... but I do recall this one now.
Come on! Don't bring up Facts! That isn't allowed here. I mean, he signed a BIG SIGNATURE something, UN something. That won't help you if your State arrests you for "possessing" a magazine over 10 rounds or some other unconstitutional "law" that turned millions of Americans into Instant Felons, but hey - we are talking about camera angles here.
Amen. So here is an experiment. Get arrested in some states, and then bring up this Trump Publicity signature to defend yourself. Won't help?
Well, we all knew that.
