Smollett's vanity and recklessness could have touched off racial violence. Instead, it killed Preckwinkle's mayoral ambitions and Foxx's political future.
It kills off that Foxx dream of one day becoming a U.S. senator from Illinois, once Dick Durbin is pushed out of the way.
Imagine, Kim Foxx, celebrity chaser, hanging out with Kamala Harris and the Obamas... Can you imagine it?
Remember that high-minded talk about Foxx having "recused" herself on account of compromising herself with Obama Celebrity Friends who were supporting Smollett? Foxx really didn't recuse herself. Not legally.
"The State's Attorney did not formally recuse herself or the Office based on any actual conflict of interest," her spokeswoman said. "As a result, she did not seek the appointment of a special prosecutor."
Ah, yes, well, but when you use "recuse" and "recusal," legal-sounding terms, taxpayers might get the idea that it's legal business. But it's not.
And there was nothing to stop Foxx from meeting with Magats or sending him direction, like a puppet, to make a deal to wipe Smollett clean.
And then came that panicky email Foxx's office sent out, asking prosecutors for "examples of cases, felony preferable, where we, in exercising our discretion, have entered into verbal agreements with defense attorneys to dismiss charges against an offender if certain conditions were met, such as the payment of restitution, completion of community service, etc. but the defendant was not placed in a formal diversion program."
In other words: Please help me. I've screwed up, and I need examples to show people that what I did is really not all that unusual.

Imagine if there just happened to be two white guys walking around at that time and caught on security cameras. They would have been arrested, Smollett would have said “Yep, that’s them” and they’d be off to prison for years if not decades.

So much of the violent crime in Chicago is due to Foxx’s refusal to prosecute felonies that would result in criminals being incarcerated. Her office is notorious for reducing charges from felonies to misdemeanors with the frequent end result being that the thugs are back on the streets within hours of their last court appearance.
George Soros funded Foxx’s candidacy, allegedly as part of a plan to undermine law enforcement efforts throughout the USA.
When lawlessness is the rule people defecate in the streets.
Since rahm wants the job maybe he is making sure Foxx gets figuratively killed off.

I agree. I can’t imagine this counting against her with Democrats in Chicagoland, especially black Dems. Here they are convinced Jussie has been vindicated . . . or at least, that white folks are paying a bit of what they owe for slavery and Trayvon and all that.

More than just that. In a couple of years she’ll run for governor, or for the Senate. And she’ll win.

Maybe not. The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association just savaged Foxx today. She’s in real trouble for violating several Illinois laws as well as the Canons of Ethics. She’ll be lucky if she avoids prosecution and disbarment.
My bet is she resigns sometime in the next couple of weeks.
