President Trumps veto Friday of a resolution blocking his declaration of a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border showed that he understands he wasnt elected to appease career politicians in the Senate. He was elected, in part, to secure the southern border and protect American lives.
Despite 12 Republican defections in Thursdays vote to overturn his declaration of a national emergency, the president is standing firm on his promise to build a wall and secure the border.

Has anyone posted which of these 12 will be up for reelection in 2020? The best way to take them out is with a pile on and strong primary opponents.
The only one up in 2020 is Collins from Maine.
Tillis from NC was going to vote for it too.
But he is up in 2020.And NC aint Maine.
So he got cold feet.

‘For the most part’ and NOTHING has been done to protect the states from this invasion. Nothing.
It really is stunning to watch our govt(a 4 trillion dollar corrupt stasi state) try and explain to its citizens why it is failing miserably in the one job it should be doing. Nothing but BS and excuses.
70,000+ per month and rising? Damn right it’s an emergency.
The “Republicans” who voted it down need to be thrown out of the GOP and Congress.

He was right. Tell me it was unpredictable by all parties.
Exactly, and I support that about as much as anyone can.
Illegal ‘immigration’ is a huge net loss for the taxpayers, a boon to the ranks of democrat voters, and certain death for our republic. There are no ‘upsides’
Didn't they?
Oh, right, a tiny bit of funding for existing projects, no punishing of cities and counties which shield illegals IN JAILS, and of course, no funding for actual border security.
I heard the breathless repetition of Rand Paul's reasoning, as well as others. But didn't hear one reporter ask where is Congress’ action on the matter.
Was it right for Trump to have to resort to an emergency declaration? I don't think so. It is something that should have been handled in the day to day business of congress, and they've utterly failed to fulfil their most basic oath of office.
Least someone’s doing their job this week.. Just laying out a random guess here, but let me assume that congress has pretty much adjourned after making the token protest about the emergency declaration to go have their spring break fling.
“Was it right for Trump to have to resort to an emergency declaration? I don’t think so”
He never needed congress’ permission(declaration of emgergency) to secure the border. That’s his farking job under the Constitution.
But the Missourians never tire of Blunt.
The vote was good
Put targets on the rinos
The question nobody asking is if McConnell did not have the 20 votes he needed to override a veto what purpose did it serve to let the 12 Rinos vote against the President the only thing I can think of if the GOP is trying to devide the Republican party even if it means sacrificing the Senate to the Dems so that Trump will lose 2020 election they done the same damn thing on Obamacare and it cost them the house and keep the Senate from winning more seats in 2018.this must be the principals there standing for losing at all cost..
You draw a shocking picture on the political wall.....
Dear Congress....Well then....the alternative is up to you....and that means funding the wall.
In my home state of Michigan the GOP provided lukewarm support for Bill Schuette who was endorsed by Trump, and they let Rashida Tlaib run unopposed in my congressional district.
This has the stench of McConnell all over it. By using RINOs who are not up for re-election next year he hopes to perpetuate his leadership and keep on with his obstructionist goal of screwing Trump.
The politicians who voted against Trump may very well be in the pocket of drug cartels, like some of the border state pols. Worth investigating..
