A bipartisan Senate bill that seeks to rein in President Trumps authority to impose tariffs is gaining momentum.
The bill, originally sponsored by U.S. Sens. Pat Toomey, R-Allentown and Mark Warner, D-Va., would require the president to get congressional approval to impose tariffs based on national security. In recent weeks another nine senators have signed on as co-sponsors. Sixty business, trade and policy groups have endorsed the bill to limit Trumps power to impose tariffs, which are taxes on imports.

Bills like this are why the veto pen exists.
Toomey has been disappointing many a time, but given the GOP doesn’t even bother to try to win up here ... fact we have a GOP senator at all is amazing.
Quislings all.
Oh yeah :)
Even a bill limiting the President’s power has to pass his veto pen. cool.
Toomey is a lousy piece of shite.
I used to be in your camp. Actually made calls for, and donations to, Toomey.
When he failed to support Trump after Trump won the primary, I ended all support for Toomey. Didn’t attend the $250 dinner I’d bought a ticket to attend, and didn’t vote for him in the general.
He snuck by in the election, but didn’t get as large a percentage of the PA Republican vote as T.
Jackass.
Toomey and Warner's chicom masters must've had a word with them.
Toomey seems oblivious to the fact that he can NOT afford to p*ss off Trump supporters if he expects to keep his job.
Lefty Democrats are on the ascendance here. It would not take very many Trump voters to decide to sit home on election day for him to lose to a moonbat.
Ah, the sight of RINOs taking the you-know-what position allowing the libs to boink them is so - uh - disgusting.
We don’t need a bigger boat.
WE NEED ANOTHER PARTY.
STAT.
Jackass. From industrial and steel country, and he wants to protect cheap imports and kill American jobs. This is a republican.
The whore was paid for.
I’m not a Senator. I have no degree in Economics or business, but here’s the obvious.
1. the USA poses next to no tariffs on imports.
2. Trump tries to get these countries who have a surplus to remove their tariffs.
3. they don’t.
4. He raises tariffs or threatens, and some countries removes their’s others don’t.
5. He puts on Tariffs to those those who don’t.
6. We start bringing in billions monthly from the tariffs that these countries pay.
7. USA consumers start buying American made products that are now selling lower than the imports.
8. IN short AMerica is winning.
Toomey is simply GOPe... his day will eventually come...
He’s a lot better than Specter..but then again who wouldn’t be.
Pat “Jeff Flake” Toomey...Thanks a lot A$$hole!!!
Just switch parties and drop the pretense already...
I am surprised a Republican wrote this.
In effect, it affects the Presidents ability to Make a Deal.
By removing his ability to persuade, by limiting his ability to add tariffs, they are trying to make him ineffective in dealing with World Leaders, and to defer to a Congress which does not support him.
I am glad he can veto this legislation.
Man, they really are coming at his from all sides. Good thing he is not a politician, but, they forget that all the time.
Right now what this country needs is a bill expanding the president’s power and limiting that of the courts. The problem is not that Pres. Trump has too much power, the problem is that he has too little.
Toomey is simply the standard GOPe.... he’s a complete symptom of why the GOP sucks... They claim to be a conservative party, but in reality are just democrat light, and think that’s enough....
Trump has built a true conservative coalition.... and if the GOP had half a brain, it would realize the GOP Wall Street Republican, ain’t going to win them jack going forward....
Not going anywhere.
China is the only country left with tariffs and they will soon be gone. LOL
