Moments after Chicago cops laid out their case against Smollett, the CNN pundit made the eyebrow-raising comparison during a conversation with anchor Kate Bolduan.
This is the fall of an icon and I dont think people understand how important he has been in the black community.
Empire as a show, to have him as a beloved character, I think did a great deal to knock back homophobia in the black community, Jones said.
The fact that he has been celebrated and you see homophobia in the black community through his eyes on the show, this is a Jackie Robinson against homophobia.
As for Smollett, 36, he is accused of orchestrating an elaborate hoax involving two "bogus" hate crimes -- one involving an alleged attack, and one involving a threatening letter -- all in order to get a pay raise.
Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Smollett orchestrated a "phony attack" in order to take "advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career" during a press conference on Thursday.

I compare him to McCabe through Mueller.
ICON???
I honestly had no idea who the hell this dude was before all of this.
This sheds some light on how commies think. They don’t care if something is less entertaining, hurts ratings, bad for children, or whatever. It is all about advancing the narrative to destroy the traditional family structure.
Ditto.
The black and gay tribes are being made the tragic victims in this crime. I’m not hearing much about the people the crime was directed against — white Trump supporters. Unfortunately, IMHO, your meme contributes to that one-sided narrative.
Give Van Jones a break. This might be the most intelligent thing he’s said on CNN (It may be ridiculous and nonsensical but still beats his typical comments)

I never had heard of the sick bastard (Smollett), and will most likely forget him in a short couple of weeks.
When and if I am reminded of him in the future, I will spit on his HATE CRIME LIFE.
Robinson was active in politics throughout his post-baseball life. He identified himself as a political independent,[238][239] although he held conservative opinions on several issues, including the Vietnam War (he once wrote to Martin Luther King, Jr. to defend the Johnson Administration's military policy).[240] After supporting Richard Nixon in his 1960 presidential race against John F. Kennedy, Robinson later praised Kennedy effusively for his stance on civil rights.[241] Robinson was angered by conservative Republican opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, though a higher percentage of Democrats voted against it in both the House and Senate. He became one of six national directors for Nelson Rockefeller's unsuccessful campaign to be nominated as the Republican candidate for the 1964 presidential election.[234] After the party nominated Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona instead, Robinson left the party's convention commenting that he now had "a better understanding of how it must have felt to be a Jew in Hitler's Germany".[242] He later became special assistant for community affairs when Rockefeller was re-elected governor of New York in 1966.[234] Switching his allegiance to the Democrats, he subsequently supported Hubert Humphrey against Nixon in 1968.[192]
Jussie Smollet isnt fit to fill even one of Jackie Robinsons shoes.
Van Jones is abysmally ignorant. And now he is slandering Jackie Robinson.

Amen.
He is but a symptom of the sick victimhood society that is being purposefully propagated.

WOW.
To get the SJW jackpot, maybe he could convert to Islam and get AIDS..?

ROFL
As far as I know, Jackie was never a pitcher or catcher.
I never heard of him or his show until 3 weeks ago.
Me, either.
What an a**hole.

Van Jones and Jussie Smollett: one POS looking out for another
I hope Rachel Robinson isn’t exposed to this nonsense. The woman is 96 and we would not want to shock her.
This might be the worst take I’ve seen in a very long time - that is a HIGH bar.
This is probably the most absurd eulogy of the late, great Jussie Smollett yet.
BTW when does the “free smollett” movement begin?
