Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.) on Friday suggested a future Democratic president could confiscate citizens' guns based on the precedent of President Donald Trump's national emergency announcement regarding the border wall.
Nadler, the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, appeared on CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" to discuss Trump's announcement earlier in the morning. Trump declared it "necessary" to build the wall on the southern border.
Host Chris Cuomo asked Nadler if enough Republicans would come out against Trump, prompting him to say, "I think so" and that he believes Republicans are terrified of unintended consequences. He speculated about other hypothetical national emergencies if a Democrat were to win in 2020.
"If the president can declare an emergency today on this nonsense, on this, the Democratic president can decide that, as you mentioned, the 40,000 people a year killed in this country is a crisis. And why don't we take everybody's guns away? Or force everybody to register their guns, or ban all assault rifles, or do all of that without congressional approval?" Nadler said. "This opens up tyranny or dictatorship."
"Now it may be something that the Republicans don't particularly oppose, but tomorrow, with a Democratic president, it could be something they hate," Nadler continued.
Nadler isn't the only Democrat bringing up national emergency hypotheticals that a Democratic president could push in the future.
"Our next President should declare a #NationalEmergency on day 1 to address the existential threat to all life on the planet posed by Climate Change," tweeted freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.).

If Nadler thinks a future democrat party president can take away guns with declaration of emergency, then...
He and democrats can put it to the test immediately...
By asking one or more of the democrat candidates to the presidency to promise that, if elected, he or she will declare a national emergency on guns and that all of them will be confiscated.
Let’s see them put their money where their collective mouths are.
A second issue which democrats could turn into a national emergency requiring a presidential order, would be to declare freedom of speech and freedom of the press and freedom of religion, to have become obsolete and abused, therefore, the first amendment should be terminated, by fiat.
So, piggy Nadler, let’s see you take the first step.

Nope, the constitution has to be changed. The President is sworn to protect the country & the constitution. So Can’t happen by the president declaring a national emergency. Nader just trying to blow smoke up everyone’s arse.
Politicians need to read world history. When the people are wronged it is the politicians, their families, their livestock and pets even, that are the first to be taken out by the stung-to-fury masses.
Nadler said this because he thinks conservatives are stupid.
We have a Second Amendment that protects against such BS.
And 300 million private arms to back it up.
He’s looking to cower some Republican politicians, or perhaps, give some of the traitors cover.

Taking away guns by Presidental Order is similar to ending free speech and shutting down the MSM by Presidential Order. We are not there yet, but obviously getting closer. Lol.
