A series of prominent Democrats demanded Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's resignation on Friday, excoriating him for appearing in a racist yearbook photo showing one person dressed in blackface and another in the KKK's signature white hood and robes.
The calls came from a number of 2020 presidential candidates, members of Congress and prominent liberal organizations, all of whom said Northam's apology on the issue was not enough. The NAACP also called for Northam to leave office. Those calls, however, were not echoed by Virginia Democrats, including Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. Both said they were shocked and offended by the photos, but in separate statements both said it was time for the governor to think about what comes next for him and to listen to those he has offended. Northam, for his part, has vowed to finish his one and only term as Virginia governor, issuing a video statement on Friday evening where he apologized but pledged to remain in office.

What will happen if he resigns? Will the Lt. Gov. become governor or will there be a general election? Republicans certainly have good reason to try to get rid of a Democrat, word has it there is a good chance that one or both houses of the state legislature will go Democrat. This because a court determined that the current voting district boundary lines had to go. They were judged to have been designed to put large numbers of black voters in a few districts so that the white (and perhaps Republican) voters would be more evenly distributed in the rest, thus making it easier to elect Republicans even if they were not a majority in the state now. With a Democrat governor and one or both houses Democrat, a lot of Democrat legislative goals can be reached.

The funny thing is Harris Tweeted how great it was that Northum won to show the world how VA rejected “bigotry.”
I’ve heard he was aware of it late in the campaign but they were unable to verify it in time.

I was wrong. I’m also starting to think it wasn’t him in the picture.
Agree my opinion is also that the Democrats leeked this out to oust him. Also that it was about how damaging the comments on abortion were for them in the state BUT they can not call on his resignation on comments he made on abortion so they put this out to get rid of him.
Or the silly thing he did less than 15 years ago when his wife was having a baby instead of having sex with him.
It is highly unlikely that this was started by Dem leadership worried about his medical statements on abortion. The story was released by Big League Politics whose editor-in-chief was formerly with Breitbart News and The Daily Caller. BLP has now been bought up by Mustard Seed Media which has a religious leaning and formerly worked to support Roy Moore of Alabama’s bid for a Senate seat. It looks to me like smart planning to contaminate the Dems in VA. Except, now the Lt. Gov. is in trouble over sex, and the third line has now reported that he also put on blackface. The forth in line is the Republican Speaker of the House, and who knows what a Dem investigative effort will discover about his past. This whole thing will be getting uglier before it gets better.
I think you may be right. The pants look a little different around the zipper, and the slope of the shoulders is so great, it does not look like the man in the jacket. On the other hand the guy by the car door is heavier, and this biracial group appears comfortable with each other.
