McCarthy 'Clarifies' a Few Things Schumer Said About Today's Meeting With Trump

Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi held a press conference on Wednesday shortly after meeting with President Trump at the White House again over the border security disputes that have caused the government shutdown. They described Trump as off putting and unreasonable, completely unwilling to make a deal. He was having a "temper tantrum," according to the Democrats.

"He couldn't get his way and he just walked out of the meeting," Schumer recalled.

GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy helped lead a press conference shortly afterward, attempting to "clarify" just about everything the Democrats said. Standing beside Vice President Mike Pence, McCarthy gave his side of the story. Trump welcomed the Democrats into the room, he said, and asked them to present their deal to him. The president even brought candy, McCarthy quipped.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy disputes Sen. Schumer's account of meeting with Pres. Trump, saying the president was "calling all the leaders together to solve this problem—he even brought a little candy for everybody." https://t.co/hYBje3V4LM pic.twitter.com/BrojKim2U7— ABC News (@ABC) January 9, 2019

The way the Democrats falsely framed the meeting was "disturbing," and their behavior is "embarrassing," McCarthy said. Where Schumer continued to "raise his voice," Trump was "polite" and "respectful." While Trump was offering solutions, the Democrats just "want to just argue."

Kevin McCarthy gave his account of events leading to the abrupt ending of Trump's meeting:

“[Trump] turned to the speaker and politely asked her, ‘OK Nancy, if we open the government up, in 30 days could we have border security?’ She raised her hand and said ‘No, not at all’" pic.twitter.com/LlxfQXf2Ob— POLITICO (@politico) January 9, 2019

The president offered his take on the meeting too. Almost as soon as they stepped in the room, Pelosi and Schumer were being unreasonable, so he said "bye-bye!"

Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2019

To prevent future misleading narratives, McCarthy suggested they invite cameras to their next meetings.

The government shutdown is now in its 19th day. While critics are infuriated that Trump is proudly sticking to his guns over the border wall, his supporters are proud of him for demanding border security and fulfilling a campaign promise.

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service may accept gifts donated to the United States Government to reduce debt held by the public. Acting for the Secretary of the Treasury, Fiscal Service may accept a gift of: Money, only on the condition that it be used to reduce debt held by the public.

Ask your congressman and Senator to offer legislation adding the border wall to this provision. We the people should not be blocked from funding something that we want done if we are willing to pay for it. Congress keeping us from doing so is not constitutional as it goes against Article Four, Section Four which guarantees to the states a republican form of government.

A republican form of government is one whereby the people elect representatives to the big decision making table to REPRESENT the will of the people who elected them. If the will of the people is to build a wall and Congress refuses to do so, then the people should have the ability to bypass the will of congress and implement their wishes. Congress should have no say in how funds are spent which are donated for a specific purpose. Congress only has authority over the money in their budget. Donations in excess of this is not theirs. According to the U.S. Constitution, we the people are the ones in charge. If we are able to donate to one cause already, we should be able to add the wall as another cause. Let's get this done. How can they argue against us doing what we want done as a nation without looking like total fools? President Trump should ask them to add the wall to this provision as an option and make the political case for it.

To me, politically, THIS is the argument that needs to be made. It will put maximum pressure on congress to actually fund the wall if they see that the people will do it despite them. It's tax season. That wall would be paid for in full by April!

Both Nancy and Chuck are bringing Karma upon themselves. Illegal aliens kill indiscriminately. You never know who it might touch.

People seem to have forgotten the theme of the democrat party for the whole Trump term: “Resist!!”

Everything these filth do is aimed at one objective: to deny Trump a second term. They are glad to have illegals flood the country and take up the Leftwing ‘rat cause, yes; but the proximal motivation fo the current obstructionism has one goal: deny Trump the ability to fulfill his prime campaign promise: to build the wall.

Democrats know that if they allow Trump to succeed in this, his re-election is guaranteed. This they cannot even tolerate thinking about.

So while they pull out all stops no matter how extreme, it is all a huge gamble, and once they cannot afford to lose: if they fail to stop Trump now, they are dead meat to their base; the powers that propelled idiots like Cortez and Tlaib to office will run roughshod over the corpses of antiquated failures like Pelosi and Schumer. And that’s the whole real deal behind the current standoff.

There's no hurry - just fill the government jobs with illegals willing to work under the table. Any liberal who objects is a racist, right?

Might as well propose a sit-down with Dracula in a garlic patch.

Or, a sun lit room!

McCarthy is showing some balls. HUGE IMPROVEMENT over Ryan.

Republicans are great when they have no power. They strut around like pit bulls. But give them power expecting them to do something and they instantly turn into chihuahuas.

Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrat Party are getting tremendous pressure from thousands of furloughed Federal Govt workers.

Pelosi, Schumer, and the entire Democrat Party are going to have to explain to their constituents why they favor
Third World diseased-infected illegals looking to scrounge off their tax dollars, rather than them---hard-working, tax-paying Americans.

Invite?

NO!

Trump should ALWAYS have a camerama..; uh; cameraPERSON available.

History deserves to have the FACTS recorded so that any 'interpretation' of them by others can be; well; FACT checked.
