While laid off, our guys had to rely on unemployment benefits, unlike the government workers who will receive full pay for their time off once they return to work.

If the workers are furloughed, they get benefits from the state they are working in. If the Feds end up paying the furloughed workers, the workers have to return the money to the state or abide by whatever the rules are.

Like California and New York? Since when are they in the mood to bail out Trump?

Good. I wanted to give it a bit of time to see how much of his early policy he would shed. He didn’t and I was in.

Democrats and Rino Republicans will quickly fold.

Man, I wouldn't take that bet. President Trump has already said he will take the heat for the shutdown. There is no downside for Pelosi.

That's why President Trump should just build the wall via executive order. That kind of crap worked for the Kenyan.

Because he’s responsible for the non-filibuster filibuster.

As a Viet Nam Veteran employment was a problem after the war.

That certainly wasn't my experience or those of my fellow vets here in S.E. Michigan. Once I returned to Detroit and filed for unemployment, I had a job interview within two weeks and was hired on the spot.

Three months later after applying for a job with Chrysler, I was called in for an interview but had to turn it down due to the job I had just hired into.......

I don't know what your personal experience was but vets were at the top of the preferred hiring list here in Michigan in the auto industry.

As a side note, about four years later after I was hired into the HR dept., every single hourly job application that came thru me and our department that indicated they had an honorable discharge from the military, they were put at the top of our hiring list........

There was no discrimination but rather preferential hiring on behalf of the veterans......

Try to build the Wall without congressional approval and it would be slapped down by a federal judge within the day.

I'll see your opinion and raise you that of several national legal scholars and apparently all of Trump's advisors, each of which agrees the Executive branch can make it happen. If Trump proceeds it will be likely he is of the opinion his authority overrides the opinion of a 9th circuit or Hawaii-type federal judge.

Albeit different players and a different neighborhood, this is not Trump's first street fight.

You can have the last word.

Just like every other Executive Order made by Trump, this one has already been judge-shopped and a stay would be issued within hours followed by month after month of appeals.

He knows (as do they) that more folks think he’s the reasonable one in this battle and as their base hurts because they won’t give up a (relatively) measly $5.6 Billion, it ain’t Trump they will be pissed at.

“Communists like Shutdown Schumer & Pelosi never bargain. You wear them down.”

Sort of. The only thing they really care about is power. Gaining more, losing less.

The way to get what you want from them is by putting them in position where they’ll lose power by fighting.
