Not enough.
Citing unidentified U.S. officials, reports said Mattis could sign the order as soon as Thursday to send hundreds of U.S. service members to help with logistical support such as providing tents and fencing.
...
If they are going to be detained, do it on the Mexican side of the border.
That’s it? Even after the giant military funding bill? Pathetic.
Yeah. 800 is merely for show. Won’t stop ‘em.
A drop in the bucket. When that locomotive with 5000 illegals riding on top unloads, it would be great to have at least 5000 troops to great them and chase them back into Mexico.
Now near enough. What will they be able to do? Pass out blankets and party favors?
800 troops. I hope we don’t scare the soon to be trespassers!
Immediately discontinue technical assistance, issue weapons, load and install rules of engagement. Time to increase the 800 troops to 1200 including tanks and riot equipment. If the caravan reaches mid Mexico, install the border military.
Weak. We should be occupying the Mexican side of the border, which Mexico won’t protect, to keep the invaders in Mexico. Business as usual with Mexico won’t work.
“...Not enough....”
It won’t be long before the number is jacked up. I would consider this a “test case”. Trump will do what is necessary.
To help process them?
Just shoot the leaders in the fancy vests.
Why won’t the Pentagon go on the record about their plans to send troops to the border?
Is it because Mattis is ‘kind of a Democrat’?
If they’re for “logicistal support” that would tell me they are intended to speed processing by the Border Patrol.
And THAT would tell me the authorities DO see these people physically crossing over to US territory.
If they are on US soil, then US law applies and it’s likely they’ll be RELEASED into the USA, which means they won’t be leaving.
They need to be stopped OUTSIDE of US jurisdiction.
It looks like talk of shutting down the border might be BS...?
If each one is flying an A-10, it’s enough.
Tents?
You are correct, this move, if true, will be for optics only at best and more likely to handle the logistics of caring for them as the caravan crosses the border. Trump is willing to do what is necessary to stop the invasion, but federal law and the courts will stop him.
