A survivor of the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida, ripped Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Saturday after he complained about an upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic for failing to include the astronaut planting an American flag on the moon.
Sarah Chadwick, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, tweeted at the senator in response to his comment slamming the film’s omission as “total lunacy.”
“Where was this energy from you when 17 people [were] killed at my school?” she tweeted, alongside the senator's comment.
The tweet quickly went viral, garnering more than 3,500 retweets and 19,000 “likes” in six hours.
Rubio tweeted about the film “First Man,” which will be released next month and features Ryan Gosling as the legendary astronaut.
The senator shared a report in which Gosling defends the filmmakers' decision not to include the scene, saying that he doesn’t think Armstrong “viewed himself as an American hero.”
"This is total lunacy," Rubio tweeted. “And a disservice at a time when our people need reminders of what we can achieve when we work together. The American people paid for that mission, on rockets built by Americans, with American technology & carrying American astronauts. It wasn’t a UN mission."
As of Saturday evening, Rubio had not responded to Chadwick on Twitter. The Hill has reached out to his office for comment.
The Florida Republican was a frequent target of criticism from survivors of the Parkland shooting in the months following the attack. Students and other gun control advocates repeatedly called him out for accepting campaign donations from the National Rifle Association.
This is a desperate bid to remain relevant and take any opportunity to attack Rubio and the NRC.
This person is trying to use Twitter to crucify Rubio and of course the twetter has a lynch mob at her finger tips to attack Rubio.
I'll bet this person and others are monitoring every Rubio tweet looking for an opportunity to destroy him.

Unless bullets hit within a foot of someone, are they really a survivor?
There were thousands of students there. Why do we now have to listen to ignorant children just because they attended a school without an armed security officer?

The movie and the subject thereof have nothing to do with Parkland or shooting of any kine. The complainer should be asking about Sheriff Israel’s energy and focus.

This is shamelessly blatant but the problem is social media feeds on these nothing controversies. There are lots of dumb kids and adults who believe this connection is brilliant.
There didn't have to be any connection. They just want to use social media to tear into Rubio and get to the NRA.
Because composing and sending a tweet is such a display of pure, raw “energy.”
Back in March he wrote, “As more information emerges about #Parkland shooter it is becoming increasingly clear he could have & should have been stopped over 1 year before the tragedy at the school. But multiple government agencies failed to use existing laws to take action.”
There’s yer energy.
You need an armed security officer to take the first bullet. Better would be an armed teacher who doesn’t advertise his status or an armed janitor, same. Even better would be several such. Leftists, however, consider any number of slaughtered teachers and children to be a all price to pay to keep guns out of the hands of people who could do good with them.
The Hill is a joke. All the interesting and important happenings in the world, and this is what they find to write about?
Neither Rubio or the NRA had anything to do with the shooting but it's the false narrative they're maintain.
