Trump warnings grow from forgotten Republicans (LOL!)
CBS News ^ | 08/18/2018

Posted on 08/18/2018 2:08:52 PM PDT by Drew68

The ranks of forgotten Republicans are growing.

Some were forced out, such as Tim Pawlenty, a former two-term Minnesota governor who lost this week's bid for a political comeback. Some, such as the retiring Republican Sen. Bob Corker, chose to leave on their own. Others still serve, but with a muted voice.

Whether members of Congress, governors or state party leaders, they are struggling to fit into President Donald Trump's Republican Party.

The expanding list of marginalized GOP leaders underscores how thoroughly Mr. Trump has dominated — and changed — the Republican Party in the nearly two years since he seized the presidency. The overwhelming majority of elected officials, candidates and rank-and-file voters now follow the president with extraordinary loyalty, even if he strays far from the values and traditions many know and love.

The Republicans left behind are warning their party with increasing urgency, though it's unclear whether anyone's listening.

"I hope this is a very temporary place for the Republican Party," said Corker. "I hope that very soon we will return to our roots as a party that's very different, especially in tone, from we've seen coming out of the White House."

The forgotten Republicans — people like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, South Carolina Rep. Mark Sanford and Ohio Gov. John Kasich — have been unwilling to sit quietly as Mr. Trump steers the GOP away from free trade, fiscal responsibility, consistent foreign policy and civility.

Isolation and political exile have been their rewards.

Their diminished roles leave fewer Republican leaders willing to challenge Mr. Trump under any circumstances, even in his darkest moments.

“I hope this is a very temporary place for the Republican Party,” said Corker. “I hope that very soon we will return to our roots as a party that’s very different, especially in tone, from we’ve seen coming out of the White House.”

Translation: He hopes the GOP will return to being the paid butt boys of the DNC.

But the deep state repubs have lost. They can retire, join the Trump Republicans, or join the deep state Dems.

* * *

George Will joined the Deep State Dems recently. ‘Course, he was secretly with them for 40 years but never let anybody know.

Yeah, it’s tough for some “Republicans” to accept a president who actually helps the people rather than take them for granted...

...or write some off.

If this is what a “new” Republican Party looks like, I’m all in.

What do I like about ?
First he is a leader. He commands center stage.
Next he is a disputed. That who we need. Greatest time in world history were disruptive Time. The auto, printing press, steam engine, space, penicillin, internet. Their interduct ion to world forever changed it.
Trump is the Great Disrupter.

That list of grifters consists of Republicans who enriched themselves at the public trough while destroying the American worker and American industry. These Sons of Soros never missed a meal and have more compassion for a Mexican drug dealer than an Appalachian coal miner.

And those would be?

Agreed.

I also like that he’s still in possession of his own soul. No one bought him the presidency so he owes no one.

I never understood George. He was smart and articulate, but wrong on so many issues.

I used to think Republicans would split into 2 parties and forever be the minority party. But Trump has shown the way. I truly hope the Rat party splits.

True leaders do possess their souls st all times. Isn’t refreshing to have a leader and not an apologist?

These are the Repubs who like to lose graciously and be part of the minority in their nice DC positions.

They are talking about the party who for years have “used” the hard working folks, who are the backbone of America, just like the democrats have “used” the African Americans and Mexicans. We finally figured it out with Trump showing us the way.

Look at old pre-Trump FR and other grass roots conservative comments.

Lack of backbone, guts, cajones is a repeating theme. Some Republicans said the right things to Conservatives. But they repeatedly had the line, which they themselves believed, that they could only win by moving to the center. In short, they lacked the courage of their convictions.

Trump has proven the centrist apologists wrong on the basic foundation of their politics. Pre-Trump these spineless were sent a message in 2010, and then in 2014 ... and they did not get the message. McCain and Romney running to the center to win proved a loser.

It should be noted that courage is independent of being right or wrong on the issues.

We need candidates and political consultants who are both courageous, and correct on the issues. I would rather vote for a candidate I agree with 80% of the time (like Trump) who has courage than a candidate I agree with 100% of the time who is spineless.

“I remember the ceckless funts crying in September and October 2016...SFTU and bite your pillows, boys. “

Lmao...never stop. Can you imagine what Trump could do domestically if he had a real party backing his play? The party of bush, the GOP, makes me physically ill.
