And EVERYONE was employed in ‘69 - either making stuff or running through the jungle with their M-16!

The 2009 Stimulus is finally giving us those shovel-ready jobs.

And yet the labor force participation rate remains at 62.9% or the same as when the President took office.

Better check your source. The official source say in January, 2017, it was 62.9%. In March, 2018 it was 62.9%. The same. It was 62.7% in December, 2016, but not January.

“...but, but, but russians, stormy daniel, blah, blah, blah...”

My first thought, too.

But, leave it to the Enemy Media. Can’t give PDJT ANY credit for ANYTHING. Just mud-slinging and tantrum throwing from the Socialists.

Anyone who thinks the REAL unemployment rate is as low as it was in ‘69 is dreaming. In those days engineering departments were often staffed with high school graduates who carried business cards with the title engineer on them. I know because I was one of those high school graduates. I was twenty five and I had a Navy electronics certificate but my job was not in electronics, I had ZERO college. People who had engineering degrees were just not available so they trained people on the job.

.... Yeah, that is an interesting stat. We do have what we thought would have been a headwind of simple demographics. Meaning much of the non-participation could be boomers retiring - so happily voluntarily. I imagine all western/westernized nations are having that issue with fewer babies and more retiring.

And of course the rate is based on the fiction that America has 320 million people those working all working legally with a SSN. Factor in all the illegals and the participation rate is likely higher.

Yes, and there are many, non-establishment experts who can explain all that. LBJ was the first to politicize the number, asking the BLS to keep running those numbers until they got the number he wanted. So they use a complicated methodology designed to make the numbers higher than they were. So any government since that time has had a +2% bias in the numbers. And then apparently Clinton had the BLS do funny stuff with those numbers again, maybe now making the false number show a 4% bias to the upside.

Which also makes the numbers for comparison reasons to other countries completely apples to oranges. Canada has its own methodology, Japan has its own, Germany its own, ect... Which is why the financial media is absurd when it compares those numbers.

I don’t usually respond to these, but just wanted to mention it is possible that for the last few weeks, those numbers could be low due to the MASSIVE snowstorm in the midwest.

Check whether the numbers change in the next couple of weeks.

Maybe, or maybe not. Just saying, it was quite a storm.

But not much has changed demographically in the year + figure. That Stat was used as a bat in 14-16, yet is hardly mentioned now.

This is great but there is one bad part — work-age people are not re-entering the workforce like they would if we came out of any other recession / depression. That’s because social benefits are too high. A lot of people still don’t feel the pain of sitting out of the workforce. Trump needs to find a way to cut Welfare, Food Stamps, Obamacare, free housing, etc.
