Romneys severe disability is found in the Constitution: No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States. Romney looks, acts, and thinks like an American noble, one who tragically cannot be made into a duke or earl. If America gave out titles, surely the Romneys would have received one or more by now. In such a world, Romneys sense of duty, and the sense of deference in the public to excellence like his, would have provided him with suitable offices.
He is Mormon bishop so he could be addressed as Your Grace.
Orin had to find someone to carry on his legacy...
Yeah, the GOP needs another bought and paid for weathervane with no appeal whatsoever to the American working class.
SMH
He’s his own best pimp...
Yes. let’s ensure Conservative publications start spreading the Dem talking points in less then 24 hours of his announcement!
Why do we eat our young?
Most importantly, Mitt is a Republican vote in the Senate.
He is not a maverick disruptor like john McCain or Rand Paul. When the chips are down, Mitt will toe the party line.
The president’s endorsement is recognition of that fact
I do not really like Romney but accept this reality
Remember in 08 when he was the ideal conservative? Even Rush provided examples as to why.
Its even worse than that. At least a noble is tied to a geographic area. The Duke of York doesn’t suddenly become the Duke of Suffolk. Romney is carpet-bagging across the country until he gets his title.
Had hoped a true conservative would rise up in Utah and knock Romney out of the running. Not to be. Well, maybe Romney will vote with Trump’s program 75% of the time, and that is better than a Democrat who would vote 0% for President’s proposals...
He thinks he’s the next McVain. Hope he comes to a similar end. Espeially when I’m reminded of this:

It’s starting to work already.
Trump endorses Romney, now the press is going after Romney.
Winning.
But a good fit for Utah apparently.
He’s a Willard so he should be addressed as Willard...
Trump has endorsed Mitt McCain s a smart political move. Mitt McCain will be elected anyway so why start out with antagonism? If Trump was to get involved in Mormonville he might end up stopping Mitt McCain and getting us that asshole McMuffin.
Enh. The South has produced plenty of actual nobility, descended from titled English gentry, such as the Lees and Johnstons. We could stand one from Utah, provided he doesn’t push it. But acting aristocratic is the least of Romney’s problems. It’s mostly that big old horn sticking out of his nose. Utah wants their pet RINO. Let them have their pet RINO. And as Mormons do, let him take a second wife, fellow RINO Susan Collins.
I don’t live or vote in Utah, so I have no say in the matter, any more than I do about Arizona’s choices of McCain and Flake. But the cause of conservatism is harmed when people like Romney, McCain and Flake are voted to office over real conservatives - maybe not as much as it would be if Utah and Arizona were voting Democrats in, but voting in people who say they are conservative but would be perfectly at home in the Democratic Party of 1996 is one big reason why conservatives have been disappointed and betrayed repeatedly by their elected representatives.
I was told, there are two Conservative types out there. Maybe they have a shot actually. It can be a long campaign season. Also, I’ll take what National (NRO) Review says with a grain of salt.
Romney is the quintessential undocumented Democrat in an R jersey.
He will say anything necessary to get elected and mean none of it.
While funny, it's not really applicable. In mormondom, bishops abound. There could be a bishop on every block in some Mormon towns.
Romney being a misfit for America could easily make him quite a good fit for Utah. Mormons often vote as if they are a tribe. They stick together, and appreciate the influence of the influential.
This does not make them terribly unusual; but it is fairly identifiable.
There is also a mysterious element of manipulation from on high. Someone up top (I thus surmise) said, "Oppose Trump; he is not good for the influx of Mexicans", and so right away, you see erstwhile (R) team players (Beck, Flake, Romney) going vehemently against the best Presidential prospect conservatism has seen in decades.
That is just my observation; and I write as one who has lived in Mormon country for over 60 years.
