Wish we could find a more principled candidate who was electable, but he’d be a whole lot better than any Democrat.

Something happened to Hatch in the last 12 years or so. There was a time where his name was used in Democratic fundraising appeals. For example “Imagine Orrin Hatch as head of the Senate Judiciary Committee...”
He wasn’t a fire-eater but yet he was a reliable conservative vote for the GOP. Did he get old or was he in the Senate too long and ended up getting co-opted by the bipartisan good ol boy network there?
Maybe both. But I’m glad he’s retiring.
