Muslims are Converting to Christianity in Record Numbers
National Catholic Register ^ | Patti Armstrong

Posted on 01/26/2018 1:04:07 PM PST by GoldenState_Rose

We are in a time of the first ever mass conversions of Muslims,” Father Mitch Pacwa SJ told me in a phone interview. “God is doing a mighty work among them.”

Pacwa said that mass conversions are happening even in very fundamentalist countries. There is rapidly growing number of conversions especially on the edges of the Muslim world in the western and southern parts of Africa, he said. “Africa is now growing predominantly Christian despite crackdowns,” Pacwa said.

Some of the noteworthy countries he mentioned include Iran, reported to have 3 million Christians, and Indonesia with reports of 2 million a year converting.

“In Mongolia, the president opened the country to Christians and there’s even an archbishop,” Pacwa said. “They built a Catholic school there too. If I was younger, I would have gone.” He said that the desire for a Western education was the impetus to open up the country to the Catholic Church.

There are even conversions happening in many strict Muslim countries, according to Pacwa. He did not want to go on record with particulars for fear of increased retribution. Mass conversions are also being reported among refugees that are filling up the Christian churches left empty by Europeans. Many wonder if those are authentic conversions or just a response to improving their chances for amnesty, but time will tell.

Signs of this conversion are showing up in the U.S. too, Pacwa said. “I was about to celebrate Mass at a Maronite church in San Diego and I said hi to a man who introduced himself as Achmad. I asked if he was a Christian. He said: ‘Yes, I was recently baptized.’ He said he from Morocco. Christians do not have the name Ahmad—that’s a form of Mohammad.”

Jesus Christ Himself pointed it out. In Revelation He spoke to the Seven Churches and pointed out their errors. Roman Catholics would claim those churches as catholic....

It started in the 3rd-4th century. When people did try to correct Rome they had, shall we say, rather convincing ways of silencing people.

WHO?? Who tried to correct Rome?? Name them.

WHO?? Who tried to correct Rome?? Name them.

The Reformers.

Those who denied the Immaculate Conception.

For starters.

Show me one ancient author who wrote about this alleged Roman apostasy when it was happening.

I can show you one aspect of how Rome apostasized.

Mary as Mother of God 431 AD

Prayers offered to Mary 600 AD

Immaculate Conception 1854 AD

Assumption of Mary 1950 AD

Mary proclaimed mother of the Church 1965 AD

Ok so how and when did all those things happen? Surely if the Catholic Church apostasized there must be some record of it historically.

The Reformers.

These would be the same Reformers who lived one thousand three hundred years after this alleged apostasy happened?

Long records of extra biblical and heretical teachings added in. In addition several times the Catholic Church had 2 different popes running around excommunicating each other. Which vicarious Christ on earth was correct? Or maybe the popes weren’t so infallible.... For a semi complete listing please see the 95 theses ( a very historical record).

You also forget that the Catholic Church denied access to the scripture by the laity teaching that only the Church could interpret scripture. You had to be part of the club to study scripture and the club brooked no dissent or they tossed you back out to be with the unwashed. I’m sure that and the fact that most reformers met a grisly death kept a lot of criticism off the official record...

You first. What can you do, or more to the point, what MUST you do?

The apostasy was ongoing and waxing worse and worse over that period of time. It was not a one time event. Once you put human teaching and tradition on par or above scripture things continue to go downhill.

See post 101. Pretty good start right there.

We could also point to Jerome not wanting to include the Apocrypha in the OT but was forced to at the time.

“But I am not going to settle for vague accusations of progressive corruption.”

To respect the Religion Forum Rules, allow this general statement to serve as a response...

• Those who have eyes open to the truth and seek it, will find it.
• Those who are willfully blind to truth, neither treasure it, nor seek it.
• Those who blindly accept their own religious traditions, without verifying their source, have predecided truth is not a primary pursuit.
• Those who demand others spoon-feed them, have already decided to spit it out and complain it isn’t real food.

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

As somebody new to the faith, why do some people consider the Catholic Church apostate?

When the Protestants split off from the Catholic Church they had to totally Revise the Christian faith to justify their rebellion from orthodox Christianity. Their vehicle for revising the faith was to have it center on the Bible as the ultimate authority on faith and practice, which has worked pretty well for them other than where the Bible presents no clear direction.

The Catholic Church, by contrast, believes in an organically expanding revelation guided by both The Bible, and the traditional understandings passed down through the ages from the Apostles, Saints, and the Church itself.

Thus you see the constant appeal to Scripture as authority from Protestants and their rejection of Catholic for not heeding their appeals.

14“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20“For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. John 3:14-20 NASB

So I guess the only churches that are adequately “Christian” in their beliefs as you define the term are select sects of post reformation Protestants?

What a terrible fate for those who lived and died in the 1450 or so so years between Christ’s resurrection and Martin Luther.

And there you see the problem with the Catholics. They equate their tradition and extrabiicak writings and increasingly heretical doctrines with Gods Word.

The Catholic Church, by contrast, believes in an organically expanding revelation guided by both The Bible, and the traditional understandings passed down through the ages from the Apostles, Saints, and the Church itself.

In other words...Rome continues to make up things and uses this "tradition" to justify their false teachings. Much of Roman catholic Mariology is based on this "expanding revelation".

Roman Catholicism resorts to this when it cannot identify in Scripture its false teachings.

Mormons and other cults also teach ongoing revelation.

Thus you see the constant appeal to Scripture as authority from Protestants and their rejection of Catholic for not heeding their appeals.

Scripture is appealed to as only it is the Word of God. Only it is inspired.

Rome cannot make that claim for its "Sacred Tradition".
