WASHINGTON — Two Republican senators have made the first known criminal referral in congressional investigations of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. They’re targeting the author of a dossier of allegations about President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham say they’ve referred former British spy Christopher Steele

“I think Linda knowing he will soon lose his ally Juan McCain, coupled with his desire to remain a Senator from S.C. has started to warm up to President Trump. At least he is trying like crazy to give that appearance. He has toned down his animosity towards President Trump considerably as of late.”

They were waiting to see if Trump would survive the coup attempt! (posted by rxsid on 1/05/2018)

Thanks, rxsid, for posting the above.

That has been on the back of the minds of a few of us.

More than likely, some key Republicans were warned that our Intel had some bad stuff on candidate, president elect and President Trump! So any support from them for Trump was weak if at all.

How many Never Trumpsters bought into the Trump/Russia bs?

That may be changing as the Trump/Russia bs is dying down.

JIBE
NOUN
jibe (noun) · jibes (plural noun) · gibes (plural noun) an insulting or mocking remark; a taunt:

That's only one definition of the word, 'jibe'.

The other is: Logically follows; makes sense in conjunction with; a deduction or position that agrees with established facts or evidence.

That's the definition you used.

Don't you find it hard to accept - at least at face value - just how much has changed and momentum reversed, even with Sessions (seemingly) out of action?

Not at all, and with all respect that's a silly question coming from you as you're usually significantly more insightful. We were well aware of the Clinton crimes before the election, but a corrupt FBI and DOJ refused to prosecute them. Now we have a Republican President, and a Republican Congress, and an emboldened conservative media, with major new stars like John Soloman and Sara Carter.

So it should be perfectly expected that the obvious crimes, and now the attempted cover up, and misdirection play, would come to light with a change of party at the top. And the reason the Democrats were caught so red handed, is they thought there was no way Hillary would lose.

The shameful, if not disgraceful part of this, is that instead of everyone being able to focus on the crimes of the Democrats, our President has been unfairly saddled with a special prosecutor investigating him, and arresting his former campaign chairman, his former national security advisor, and other campaign officials, apparently based on a bogus FISA warrant. A special prosecutor that wouldn't have ever been appointed if Sessions had not recused himself, and had stood his ground in defense of the President from unfair prosecution as previous AG's have. So precious resources, and time, have been lost in defense of unfair if not illegal attacks on the President

Now we also have an AG who can't even execute the job of the AG and is having to delegate to an already overloaded Deputy AG, while there are questions as to the trustworthiness of that deputy, that the President himself has voiced. Not to mention Sessions bears some responsibility on the loss of his Senate seat to the Democrats.

I could go on, but this is so obvious, it's rather boring to have to explain it over and over for those who appear to unusually obtuse on this subject. So this post in itself is EVEN MORE wasted resources, taken from the true fight that needs to be fought, while we argue over to what degree Sessions is wounded. He is wounded, clearly in some manner, and if he had any true respect for the mission of bringing justice to the Democrats who deserve it most, he would resign, since he's unable to work on it. But he only cares about himself, and his pet issues which hardly justify the full time focus of the AG, especially with all the extremely controversial and objectionable things going on in the DOJ right now.

Blumenthal is on CNN right this minute, going on and on about how great an AG Sessions has been, and how Trump shouldn’t be allowed to fire him, etc.

That was my thought as well.

My second thought was much more cynical: Make a lot of noise about bringing charges against someone who is essentially untouchable so it looks like you’re serious and actually doing something. That way you can avoid indicting the real culprits (Hitlery, 0vomit, Comey, and so many others).

Trump should do everything in his power to bring these criminal wrong doers in the Swamp to justice, which in itself would be a major accomplishment. Future Swamper may think twice before they attempt something like this again.

#46, I’ve thought about that a lot.
Iam beginning to lean towards this mindset.

Graham being a former JAG Officer takes laws and rules seriously. More importantly the abuse of them. He was fairly good in going after bubba while he was in the House during the Impeachment

I wonder that perhaps he has seen the info. Admiral Rogers passed to Trump.
Think about this- How far fetched would it to believe that not only did these vermin spy on Trump but all the Republican Candidates before and during the primaries?

What is the statute of limitations on spying against a rival political party using the full weight of the US intelligence apparatus?

This is about MORE than Hillary - although I suspect her just desserts are already in the oven.

HRC was abusing her power by getting the FBI to screw with people since she first got into office and NADA was done about it after “congressional investigations”

See TravelGate and FileGate.

Bitch skates every single time.

He doesn’t need to sing much. He’ll say “I didn’t write it, I only signed my name to it.”

All that Grassley wants him to do is contradict, under oath, the account that various FBI personnel gave.

This is about prosecuting corrupt FBI people, not going after Steele.

The article is not specific enough. It doesn't say if the crime was in lying to Congress or to the FBI. And when did he give those interviews? Who on the FBI Team (Strzok? Baker?) questioned the two? What possible penalties might there be? Where is a sentence or two on the background and context?

Am I wrong or is this just crappy, shoddy, "make do," reporting?

Thank you, RS. It seems as though the info from Congress was lacking the specifics — still a few phone calls from the reporters to Congressional staff could have benefitted their readers. Sometimes the bones of a story need to have some meat — not just a rushed press release.

For six months during 2016 the FBI using no Warrants, only “about Queries’ ‘Wiretapped” and grabbed Team Trumps e-mails, and Puke Sessions has done Nada.

Maybe we will learn who Steele really is. I’ve seen him described as a top counter-intelligence agent/spy, the HEAD of MI6’s counter-intelligence, etc. etc. etc.

What I want to hear answered is how Steele, if he was SO GOOD as a counterintelligence agent, got suckered into buying Russian (i.e. KGB/FSB) “offered to buy” “information” about Clinton.

He should have known that this was a trap. The Russians don’t do this for shits and grins, or even a few bucks. There is almost always an ulterior motive that will benefit Putin and Company (i.e. Mother Russia).

Every intelligence agent is told this, or should be told this. There is no “free lunch” from Putin’s pushcart. He’s far smarter than Comey, Mueller, Freeh, Clapper-less Bell, Jeh Jeh Jeh Johnson, and some others in the US intelligence service.

Why didn’t they pick up on an obvious old-style Soviet “honeytrap” operation? Did they ever ready Roy Godson’s work on Soviet Disinformation, or the numerous studies/reports that communism expert Herbert Romerstein produced for Congress, or the Senate Intelligence hearings on Soviet “Covert Activities and Forgeries”?

Did they ever read Suvorov, Pacepa, Golitsyn, Sejna, and other KGB defectors from Gen. Preobrazhensky, Kalashnikov and Litvineko, etc. ?

We need to know if Steele is all that the media has claimed him to be, or was there more hype than action to his career?

If he was legit, then that explains why the Soviets/Russians have wiped the asses of the Brits with sandpaper for decades, if not a century. He fell for the most simple, most apparent KGB-style trap known.

He must tell how the whole Dossier affair started, his involvement in it, who he contacted in Russia, and why he believed the crap in is.

If he is any good, the Congress will find out. If he is an overhyped retired spook, they should know that too.

Meanwhile re “Trump and Russian Collusion”, score a big one for Putin and the Party. They bagged most of the liberal US media (print, visual, audio), half of Congress (the half they have great influence over), most of academia, the talking heads of the Left, and even some Republicans/Conservatives.

Not bad for one of the simplest “false flag” operations in modern history.

As I have said before, and Mark Levin tonight said the same thing, the new Soviets lit a small fire in a forest, based on lies, and let the Western liberal media fan it with gasoline into “Collusion”. All the while it was the media, the Democrats, American Marxists, and liberal stupids who were doing the Russians’ bidding to undermine the new president of the United States.

Putin knew that Hillary was a loser - mentally, physically, politically, corruption-wise (I’d say UraniumOne was a big clue as to how stupid, greedy and traitorous she was) and as a person.

After that is was the “All Collusion Conspiracy and Clinton Coverup Circus and Clown Show”. In the end, it was liberals greed, stupidity, insanity and collusion with the Russians that is now being shown to the American public in all its inglorious form.

If there was any Collusion, it was between the Democrats and the Russians, and that is treason in my book.

Perhaps Steele will spill the beans and we will finally have the truth. The Wash. Post bannerline for their newspaper is “The Democracy Dies in Darkness”.

I say “The Democrats’ Treason Will Die in the Light of the Truth”.

Let’s see who is right. I’m betting on me because I listened to my FBI undercover agents friends/officials, internal security experts, and former KGB agents (starting with Whitaker Chambers).

They were great teachers. I was a pretty attentive student. My mother and father didn’t raise any fools in our family. You went to school to LEARN, period.

Voila! 21 years of schooling didn’t go to waste, in my humble opinion.

Stay tuned. John Sullivan and Tom Fitton have more goodies to make public next week. It’s going to be a great show!

Steeles crime is that he created a false document for the purpose of hoodwinking the FISA court, which was presented the Steele dossier as if it were a genuine intelligence document. This is the classic “utterance of a false document” from British Law.

Innocent Americans had their privacy and lives disturbed by this false document, and their constitutional rights violated from unwarranted search and seizure, including the life of General Flynn whose conversations should never have been recorded by the FBI.

Jail time and capital punishment are possible for such crimes.

The entire conspiracy needs to be rolled up, and Steele should not be made a sacrificial lamb.I believe the entire grift of the FISA court and the subsequent revealing of private citizen identities to the entire Obama administration and its political machine violates the RICO statute. It is racketeering of the first order.

Recording the private conversations of Americans and then prosecuting them for political crimes? Very bad, and so doom on these liberal fascist Obama political operatives!
