Now they are chasing the boy scouts out of the Boy Scouts.
Whom else can we feminize today?
San Diego had ample opportunity to earn merit badges and Life Scout was in the bag. My Eagle Board of Review came on April 12, 1972. My card was "signed" by Richard Nixon.
The scouting organization has really fallen. I've supported them for years with annual checks. My own troop was PTA sponsored. The troops at the Catholic churches were exceptionally well supported financially. LDS troops tended to be small (focused at a ward level, so a small pool in the right age range). The LDS church has always treated the Scouts as their official program for the young men. That ended last year. They screwed up too much at the national level. I have no idea what the official replacement will be.
it saddens me that you cant have a club that says no to the opposite sex belonging....Boys and girls are different and have different needs. it would not bother me if the boy scouts and the girl scouts had the same umbrella organization but the different troops were segregated with rare group activities but for both the sexes some where around 11-13 they become idiots when they are around each other. there is also something great about a bunch of young men learning to be great young men together with the absence of the opposite sex. there is a honesty that these men in training can have if they are not distracted.
Did the scout leaders finally get tired of molesting little boys?
Madness. Pure madness.
Just as Kruzchev promisedthey buried us.
Your take on it is interesting. My little girl would love to do fun things like that. But she wouldn’t want it to be called BOY scouts. Why can’t Girl Scouts do real, non SJW things?
Scouts Canada boasts they are now open, not just to girls, but to “all genders.
In 1968 there were almost 300,000 boys in scouting, when Canada’s population was about 1/2 what it is today. Enrolment is down to 60,000. On a per capita basis it’s about 10% of what is was at its peak. The decline is partly due to the end of the baby boom and partly due to the increased number of distractions kids now have, but make no mistake that the liberal takeover of the Scouts has had a dramatic impact on enrolment.
The homosexuals making inroads to the BSA was the last straw for me. That was a self-inflicted wound after the BSA won a critical Supreme Court case that upheld their right to keep their own membership standards. First the godless homosexuals and now feminization of the BSA — how soon before the central BSA council endorses educational goals that include promoting abortion (like the feminist led GSA)?
This Eagle abandoned the BSA after the homosexuals were welcomed in.
The shoe pounder's son, Sergei Nikitich Khrushchev and his wife Valentina, became US citizens on 12 July 1999.
Ain't America Great?
Why don’t they just call them GIRL SCOUTS and let them have their own ‘division’ ?
“Co-ed units are unacceptable.”
Co-ed units have existed for quite some time in groups known as Venture Scouts and Explorers. The age requirements for these groups is middle teens up to age 21 for Explorers. My son earned his Eagle in 1998 and his five-years-younger sister was around for lots of the activities. This interest caused her to join a Venturing crew created by our troop when she was 14. She had some of the skills and those were developed further so she could be ready for our big adventure on a multi-day canoe trip on the Buffalo River in northern Arkansas.
Bottom line - the co-ed group issue has already been decided for older youth. I expect they’ll take what they’ve learned there in order to structure whatever will happen for the younger groups. When my son and I went to Philmont Scout Ranch in 1995, we encountered one backpacking crew that was co-ed with the leader’s wife there for supervision of the girls. It’s possible to structure events so both sexes get benefit without compromising the entire experience. This will be especially critical for the Eagle award, IMO.
I would not allow my kids to join the Boy or girl scouts.
I only made it to Life scout. I think I am self- identifying as an Eagle Scout now.
Your arguments remind me of the SJW’s who are pro-illegal. “It’s so terrible where they’re from, they just want a better life.”
If Girl Scouts is too dull or boring, work to change it. Don’t latch on to somebody else’s group and demand it “fill a need”. JohnyBoy is dead on the money; this is just the next step in the incremental destruction of everything the BSA has been.
Better solution: have the Girl Scouts offer similar programs/badges to what the Boy Scouts offer.
This is another attempt by the left to destroy the idea of “gender binary.” In other words, boy = girl = anything you think it is.
Just another sign that we as a society have gone totally insane.
Woah there, my FRiend. Girl Scout activities are only restricted to what the troop leader is able and willing to do. Back in the 80's, I took my troop backpacking. They all had knives and knew how to use them, as well as compasses and alternate fire-starters. I don't remember us having a hatchet, but we did have a cool cutting tool for cutting up firewood, and it fit nicely in a pack unlike a hatchet would. My troop knew how to cook in a kitchen as well as at a remote campfire. In the winter when it was too cold to camp comfortably, we explored caves and camped in them, learned to crawl in seemingly impossible places, got muddy, and loved every minute of it. I am betting that there are many Boy Scout troops out there that never do some of the adventures my Girl Scout troop had.
