WHO IS

Apple Pan Dowdy

The early years (spring).....
Apple sprouted from the family tree in the late 40's, a baby-boomer, a product of the new deal and Democrat to the core. Here in the south that meant idyllic, sun filled days in a middleclass orchard where dad worked hard and mom stayed home and baked cookies. One might think this would make an apple soft, but to the contrary, it helped develop a delicious mildly sweet flavor.

The middle years (summer)...
In due course Apple ripened and headed off to the University of Alabama to find a rich doctor to marry. But you know what they say about "an apple a day"! So instead she transferred to Auburn, found her soul mate and he was so good looking that it made up for his not being a rich doctor. And he “sang a song only she could hear.”

Apple discovered that the old Democrat Party was becoming much too radical for her. Even her beloved Sierra Club was being overrun by eco-natzis who didn't care a wit about the great outdoors, but only wanted to use the environment as a platform for their own ends.

So naturally, Apple became a Republican!

The later years (fall)
Harvest time has come and it is said "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". The fruits of her labor, all three of them, have grown up so she now fills her days playing the Mountain Dulcimer and Irish Bodhran Drum, tending her beehives and garden, playing with the Granddarlin’s and minding a small web design company that will not make her rich, but sure beats boredom (now retired, YEA!).

Apple has been baked into an Apple Pan Dowdy ....... not as fancy as an Apple tart, not famous like an Apple Pie ... just a simple pan dowdy. Be assured, looks can be deceiving, her plain top crust is sprinkled with sugar and spices. It is also important to note that Apple (no relation at all to the fruit on that tree in the Garden of Eden that the devil used to tempt Adam and Eve with) enjoys a deep faith in her Heavenly Father and thus is a Evangelical Christian, which is the real reason she feels totally at peace and happy. If any of you ever want to talk about what that means, just FReep mail her to discuss it.

Those core conservative values bring her often here to Free Republic.

Did you know that if you cut an apple in half (across the core) you'll see a star shape! That's right. Apple loves this great country of ours with a passion. So though she is only a pan dowdy, she insists that she is as American as apple pie!

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." —John Adams

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that which feed you. May your chain be set lightly upon you and posterity forget ye were our countrymen." -John Adams

"Power is the great evil with which we are contending. We have divided power between three branches of government and erected checks and balances to prevent abuse of power. However, where is the check on the power of the judiciary? If we fail to check the power of the judiciary, I predict that we will eventually live under judicial tyranny." —Patrick Henry

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” C S Lewis

WHO IS OUR REAL ENEMY?

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. - Ephesians 6:12
