Boys attention span and focus in the teen years is hormone driven and being around girls will change the whole learning dynamic.
The Girl Scouts of America organization needs to step up and engage girls in meaningful and productive activities. Both groups have done great in the past, allowing such detrimental changes now is foolish and defeating.
The capitulation attitude of the leaders has no place in an organization founded on building character.
Co-ed units are unacceptable.
I guess they need to remain them the ‘kid scouts’
They welcomed in GAY SCOUTMASTERS, and threw out GOD. Parents willing to let their boys IN goes down, they have to fill in the numbers SOMEHOW, or go under.

Sickening. The whole organization will be adjusted to the needs and comfort level of females. The whole place will be an indoctrination camp now.
Look on the bright side. It will make campouts a lot more fun.
It will be segregated. My daughter is excited. She’s tried both Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls and both could not be any more boring or unfulfilling. My son joined cub scouts and within 2 weeks he was camping and carving soap with a real knife. My poor daughter has wasted 5 years making crap out of recycled goods and doing service projects (nothing wrong with that but she goes to Catholic School and gets plenty of that stuff there) and NEVER went camping. Only a one day rendezvous with the Trail Life Boys where she got to see their WAY more fun and interesting activities and skill sets.
I don’t think the BS org is out to get boys, or socially reengineer society. I think they just see a need that is being unfulfilled. Half the boys in my son’s pack have sisters who hang out at the meetings and take part in the activities because they are just so cool. But who else is going to teach them those outdoor skills? All of the mothers with any kind of motivation in our community use their energy and ambition to either work full time or homeschool large families. The moms left to head up scouting are just not up for the adventure, they want to do mild, indoorsy things. It’s an intractable problem and I’m glad the Boy Scouts are setting up a girls’ division where they can have those classic scouting experiences.
It’s going to be segregated by sex and most campgrounds are already set up for boy’s and girls’ separate facilities. All they really need is a new name to differentiate them but keep the activities the same and so many girls will be so so happy without even affecting the boys. Girl Scouts has been lame and with a really dull, quasi-sjw focus for a long time now and needs to be replaced so hopefully this will be it.

Boys will leave in droves. When women move into an all-male group the male group dynamic is perminatly destroyed.
My son does not want his sisters coming to scouts with him. It is his time away from them.
We’ll, for now. A couple years after the change the national council will announce that it has unanimously voted to merge male and female units. Bo practical reason to keep them seperate, you see. This is how they do stuff at the national level. Then a few years after that ditch “Duty to God”..... religion’s a personal thing, dontcha know... then they’ll be done.

This class of ‘68 eagle disavowed the BSA long ago; I did not leave it, but it left me and all like me.
I see here where the Mormons finally caved and allow homosexual scout leaders. They had all this tough talk when homosexuals were allowed in, said they would cut ties with them, but then caved. Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said two years ago that Catholic KoC councils had to cut all ties with the BSA and that’s exactly what happened. My council sponsored a BSA Troop for over 40 years, it’s over now. No more. I know of no scout that wanted the change but Gates, Tillerson and that crowd got their way and the BSA will not exist too much longer.
It has nothing to do with how fun it will be for girls. It isn’t PC to say anymore, but boys need a chance to be away from females...including moms.
Its an important part of development. And from age 11 or so is one thing.
But think hard and see if you can think of what will fill the brain space of every boy in the group from about 13 to 18 when missed with same aged girls?
This is foolish, and it is destroying something important for boys. Actually completing the destruction, Tillerson already put the homos in as leaders.

Fully agree. And this is just another attack on everything that was good in old America. National Geographic, the military, the NFL, the BSA, etc.

You’re making a mistake. Left’s always push their caused incrementally and co-ed units are right around the bend.
Here’s the standard leftist plan:
1. Identify a respected institution.
2. Kill it.
3. Gut it.
4. Wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.
Boy Scouts just entered phase #2 by redefining boys scouts into boy/girl scouts. Phase 3# is where leftist women start calling most of the shots and gutting the institution.

I admire your optimism but this is just the first phase to make it more acceptable - until the gender warriors unleash all thier complaints and threats. Segregation by sex is so yesterday. In a year or so they’ll be mixing “all” the “genders” and “non-genders”, etc., together. Then they’ll be dealing with all the problems that come from that, including bullying, assaults, pregnancies, etc. Everything the liberals infest turns into a swamp of depravity.
They’ll have to rename the organization to please the LGBTQYZ’s. The Boy Scouts are done. Another lib social-sexual experiment has begun.
