During the Ferguson protests, I remember thinking, This is what happens when people feel like they dont have a voice.
The outraged community gathered together to speak. And, as can happen with outrage particularly when there are scared, young people involved the rage overtook some, and the protests turned destructive.
The whole thing felt a wee bit like racism, to be honest. There was an us vs. them feel to it. Distaste for a community that didnt exercise self-control. A Well, what do you expect? attitude.
Do you know what I didnt hear discussed from any of the people criticizing the means? Discussion of the death of Michael Brown. If, perhaps, justice had not been served. The message had been lost (to many) in a sea of finger-pointing.
Michael Browns death was, oh-so-sadly, not an isolated incident, and the Black Lives Matter movement grew to raise awareness, and look for justice.
Statistics should make anyone do a double-take. Over and over again, completely innocent people going about their business being shot and killed, and the officers are often acquitted.
The patterns are clear. A community expresses hurt, pain, fear and a need, and a select group deflects, discredits, and suppresses their message with mounds of rhetoric and little, if any, actual listening to the message.
Its almost as if some people dont want to hear the message.

Lotsa community disorganizer “outsiders” stopped by to help with the voice thing.
The lesson I learned from Ferguson, was buy more ammunition.
Its almost as if Michael Brown was intentionally walking down the middle of the street, as if he didn’t obey the officer’s orders, as if he tried to take the officer’s gun, and as if he tried to murder the officer. It’s almost as if black race baiters invented a “Hands up don’t shoot” lie to foment anger, racial discord, and riots. It’s almost as if Obama aided and abetted all this.
As if.
What were the real lessons of Ferguson?
1) America’s enemy within is taking every opportunity to provoke race hate.
2) Barack Obama is one of those enemies within.
1) Never believe the initial report
2) Especially never believe the initial report when it comes from some useless crackhead criminal accomplice who has every reason in the world to lie
3) Never believe the media
ALL this crap, Freguson, BLM, NFL protests, etc, has been built upon a pack of LIES from race baiting attention whores...................
False narrative - crime statistics and history demonstrate this to be a complete lie.
Michael Brown was a thug?
Obama supported BLM?
The poor cop had a fractured eye socket.
Liberals are scum.
Fake news is real?
This writer is a moron. The subject was covered in depth by Radley Balko who pointed to the policing for profit statistics in Ferguson and its environs.
If your city and/or county government is using law enforcement as revenue collectors the constant harassment of the citizenry will result in bad attitudes and unfortunate encounters.
I do not know. We currently have lots of rules, laws and yet we are seeing things breaking down in areas (inner city)
I have earlier posted that:
I would add that if the culture (society) that the person resides in openly accepts crime, rampart illegitimacy and drug dealing, for example, as a normal way of living, then that culture is past broken or dysfunctional.
That society is, in fact, engaged in constant, low order warfare against the larger, rule based participative society from which it is subtended. In this context, riots are just a spike in the ongoing and constant warfare with the larger whole.
So - to my earlier point - the 'breakdown' is less a rejection of the rules/laws and more like open warfare against the greater whole of the working parts of our Society.....
How long would the 'inner-city' and their related absolute dependency on others outside of the AO last without massive tax spending for water, sewer, electric and food/water or housing? I dare say the shelf life of those areas would be measured in hours. Witness: New Orleans before the hurricane...
I am not a heartless bastard, BTW, just an observer of the obvious.
Maybe black America would do better to wean themselves off of the teat LBJ got them addicted to 5 decades ago and get back to basics.
Societal revolution was fun, but look at the wasteland that's come from it.
We've tried everything else, how about trying intact, two-parent families again?
I know, I know, that sounds crazy radical, but it just might work to improve society.
[[What were the real lessons of Ferguson, and are we listening?]]
The ‘real lesson’ is simply this- that a racist president and racist media can turn an attempted murder by a thug criminal into a case of ‘self defense’ and ‘hands up don’t shoot’ DESPITE all the evidence proving otherwise- it proves that if a person is black, evidence against them is meaningless and they are always the victim and laws do not apply to them- even when they try to murder an officer
They behave in a violent, racist, and insane manner further demonstrating that they should not have a voice in civilized society.
Have they noticed that even with "ompletely innocent people going about their business being shot and killed", their poster children for #BlackThugsMatter are always thugs. Trayvon Martin was shot when a man he attacked without provocation happened to be armed and able to defend himself, Michael Brown was shot minutes after his strong arm robbery and seconds after attacking a cop, and others chosen as the face of the movement always seem to be thugs. They are not even recovering thugs who might have left that in their past; the examples chosen by the left to illustrate the problem are active thugs in the middle of thugging when they are shot and killed. I get the message loud and clear. We need more dead thugs.
The ONLY people not listening, were the ones on the street rioting because a police officer defended himself against a man that had already assaulted him and had tried to take his service weapon.
These people didn’t know that this situation took place because an officer told Brown to get out of the street. It was nighttime, and brown was at risk of being injured.
These people didn’t know that Brown was charging the officer when shot.
Once again, we have a person who, if he had been abiding by the law, had followed the officer’s directions, and had done something that would have made him more safe, he would be alive today, unless he screwed up this bad at a later date.
Racist? Are they claiming that if a White man had done the same things, the officer wouldn’t have shot him?
Dream on clowns...
The lesson that needed to be learned was ignored by those who needed to learn it.
Thugs who attack armed men should expect to get shot.
