Medicare should be income based...and cost more to go to the doctor..

They have old people..down here in Florida..they go to the doctor for things that a months rest would cure..Golfers are always going to the orthopedic surgeon.. sore this or that..

They is no cost to go to the doctor..Doctors love it..

Hundred and fifty bucks gets you four or five minutes..

I bet if Moore gets in he’ll be a hard no to bills like this. Not exactly helpful if you ask me (see my previous comment)

Yep. This is what I have been saying for a long time. This is very reason Trump is supporting Luther Strange. Moore is an idealogue and will be less likely to go along with compromises.

Hope so! It would be a start towards complete repeal.

So now they will do a fake repeal and replace? Priceless.

How many strings will be attached to these block grants?

I’ve never been more excited than I am right now

Didn't say, but I am betting McCain had his arm around him as he spoke.

Democrat Senators in states that Trump won in 2016 are considered the most vulnerable in 2018, but the ones most likely to support this Graham-Cassidy bill are those who represent the 19 states that did not implement a Medicaid expansion program as part of ObamaCare. These states are going to benefit the most from any plan that turns Medicaid funding from a Federal entitlement into a block-grant program.

Trump is also supporting Luther Strange for the same reason the NRA has endorsed him. Strange has been in office for eight months, and has an actual track record of voting on various legislative items that have come up in the Senate. The NRA has become one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the U.S. by using this approach of rewarding performance regardless of party affiliation or political philosophy.

Graham is a lot more excited over having something with his name on it than I am.

Well said.

They need to pass this bill so they can show steep reductions in Federal Medicaid spending over the next ten years. They see this as an absolute necessity before they can pass any meaningful tax reform package.

There is no repeal in this bill.
There will not ever be a repeal.

Unless we remove all the Democrats in R jerseys.

Alexander, Corker, Flake, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Gardner, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst, Young, Boozman and Shelby are all undocumented Democrats in R jerseys

This is another false choice like an establishment GOP hack or Democrat in election.

If they won’t repeal Obamacare, let it fail. Then go back to Cruz’s amendment to keep Obamacare OR opt out, make it a choice and Obamacare will repeal itself.

This is more government keeping the boot on our neck with a “fix”.

Harry Reid worked out extremely well -- right up until he decided that he wasn't going to run again. By that time he was the leader of the minority party in the Senate anyway.

How many Federal gun control bills were passed in the U.S. Senate when he was the majority leader? I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the answer is zero.

Block grants are insane anyway. Just tell the states: sorry, you’re cut off, find this money elsewhere. There’s no incentive to save money at all.

But does this this actually allow states to set up their own health insurance schemes? If so, at least it’s a start at rescinding some Federal leviathan control.

We need to move this rock, and about forty other rocks, some a little, and some a lot. Then, after 2018, we will need to start moving these very same rocks again, and start moving some new ones too.

The problem is a large chunk of the “conservative” base would rather sit in their porch chairs and complain than battle the Dems incrementally. The Dems will happily thank these GOP plantation porch conservatives for their support the next time they have the ability to ram single payer down our throats. They will ruthlessly steam roll us and “true conservatives” will get NOTHING. Except of course their ideologically purity. The Dems will always give them that while they put the boot on our necks.

Every time you open your mouth to utter words...i want to throw up on you, you traitor!!!

Doctor? I had a little heart burn and got a referral from my primary care MD to a GI “doctor”. I was shocked when I arrived to the GI office and was seen by a NURSE! Of course my bill reflected seeing a “doctor.” Health care is degrading in so many ways right now. People have no idea I think.
