If he really the twitter comments from earlier expressing upset at there being no prosecution of Hillary, the President himself openly called for that so that is an absurd criticism...if he meant that and it wasn’t a ruse with another meaning.

However, when Sessions recused himself he should have appointed a special counsel himself setting narrow and specific parameters of what would be investigated. Now he can’t intervene to stop the mission creep because of the recusal and not appointing the counsel beforehand.

This kind of sensationalism is worse than the sort of tabloid coverage that Princess Diana got.

Donald Trump has a way of cycling through assistants when they aren’t willing to see things the way he does. He generally tries to make it amicable. This looks like a teapot tempest to me. I don’t even think Sessions will exit as an enemy, just as disagreeing.

My guess is Sessions doesn’t see it. Too ingrained in the DC echo chamber. If you don’t see it you can’t fix it.

The subsequent fallout from the public criticism has united the NeverTrump crowd, Cruzbots and professionally GOPe, to defend the honor of the much beloved former Senator.

Very shallow 'analysis'. If this keeps up, many will discover that the dissatisfaction with Trump's tactics here will be deeper than that. Evangelicals and other groups of conservatives don't like this sort of public humiliation and trashing of a well respected conservative of longstanding.

“However, the subsequent POTUS tweets and comments do not indicate any joint strategy at all.”

Why, then, are the criticisms public? It looks to me like he’s putting on a show, WWE style.

I think the author here is speculating wildly. The whole charade between Trump and Sessions had an immediate false smell about it because it came from an interview that Trump gave to the NY Times — a media outlet that Trump has constantly ridiculed as “failing” and “fake news.”

The corrupt institutional system that AG Sessions is apparently refusing to confront, are now targeting the personal family of the presidency. What usefulness is there in winning the small stuff if Sessions is refusing to confront the larger and more dangerous systemic corruption.

This is just tunneled-visioned nonsense, as if all the other executive branch heads have totally cleaned out all vestiges of Obamaism and liberalism in general that have accumulated over many years. I think a case can be made that Sessions has done more to turn the policies of the DOJ around than several other cabinet members.

Sundance got way ahead of himself on this one.

Sundance has no better idea of what the real truth is than anyone else, he’s just in the business of making his followers believe he does.

Sessions recusing himself was a bad move. Ignoring Clinton crimes is unacceptable.

Sessions has already offered his resignation and Trump did not accept it. Trump apparently still wants him there. Ball is in Trump’s court. He can accept the resignation or tweet. So far just tweets.

What Sessions has to do is to do what President Trump ask of him ... get the investigation of clinton going... the FBI arrested one man today ... connected to the dems and all they tried to do to win... why isn’t Sessions on this and more... just go after the guilty.. go where the crimes are evident... and give Trump a deserved break from the attacks.
As for not wanting to go after the clintons... why in the name of anything dear... would you not want to go after the clintons??? They have been criminals for a long time and made themselves millionaires.. from Arkansas where they had nothing.. to Washington where they made themselves rich off the backs of the people and used the United States as their calling card... selling influence and favors.. plus our uranium and anything else they could find.. destroying gov property emails, lying about all of it... letting men be murdered in benghazi and lying about that too.

The only channel I can stomach is Fox and some days I can’t even do that one... tonight they are still talking about rusha rusha rusha.... it’s about time they changed that witch hunt to the dems.. it looks like the russians did not do the hacking of the dems... it is said to be an insider (Rich ring a bell?)... and it looks like hillary, lynch and comey .. along with brennan and others, are the ones Sessions should investigate asap and let the public know the media has been loading them with lies... also the ones Fox had better shift their line of reporting over to.. and leave Trump alone for once! Bret makes me angry just to look at him... since he’s been in the top seat, he shows his colors and it’s anti Trump no matter what goes on that is positive. He says on twitter that he’s fair and balanced.. he believes his own stories.. he left fair and balanced a long time ago!!

On this boy scout thing... it’s more ridiculousness that the media can’t pass up... WE are trying to save this republic and they want to tear down and destroy so they can enjoy their carnage!!

“He might not desire to participate in an epic battle of such a politically adversarial nature.” True.

Mattis can help in this department. So can the writers at Strategy Page. American politics are solved by going back to Constitution and common sense.

Sesssion has my support and needs prayers to defeat Culture of Death in DC.

Sundance has my support and he gets some credit for defeating Hillary.

Under the former administration the Department of Justice was weaponized politically and legally by the executive branch against ordinary American citizens.....This underlying corrupt architecture is what Jeff Sessions is choosing to ignore.

Was not Trump explicit when hiring Sessions that the whole DOJ swamp needed to be cleaned? Obama hired Holder and Lynch who did Obama's bidding and happily pushed his marxist agenda, in total agreement with him. They would never think of recusing themselves from anything. WHY is it SO hard for Republicans to act with the same purpose and commitment?

Does Sessions even come to work?

If he does come to work does he spend the day dozing in his office?

He is a prime example of why senators do not make good managers or executives.

They are accustomed to going through the motions, dragging action out to fill all the available time (and more), referring issues to committees, and ordering staff reports.

But they are not accustomed to acting independently and decisively or taking a leadership role.

And they rarely accomplish anything of substance and never on their own.

They are consensus seekers and compromisers, not men of singular action.
