Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will support the new version of the GOP ObamaCare replacement bill, a major boost for the measure's chances of passage in the upper chamber.

"If this is the bill, I will support this bill," Cruz told reporters Thursday after a meeting of GOP senators. "Now, if it’s amended and we lose the protections that lower premiums my view could well change."

An amendment from Cruz to allow insurers to offer plans that do not meet ObamaCare requirements was included in the new bill in a key move to win his support.

If they pass this, which I think I am in favor of, what is the incentive for them to vote to eliminate more or all of it in the future???

So this would mean, among other things, that Catholic hospitals and schools will not be forced to pay (either directly or indirectly) for abortions.

Lower rates, and get rid of the Fed tax and employer mandates would be a start.

I’m happy about this. He’s turning out not to be a fool after all.

As I have been predicting, in the midst of all the negative press about rhe GOP failing to deal with Obamacare, a bill will be passed.

Easy analysis:

A: Pass a bill and go on vacation.
B: Don’t pass a bill and spend all summer in D.C.

It should be clear as a bell that Option A would always win out in the end. After all, vacations are way more important than principles. If you’re a Senator.

Why should the liberals object? This is simply at long last fulfilling Obama’s promise that “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.”

I liked my pre-Obamacare health care plan but was prohibited from keeping it. I want it back. I really don’t want or need coverage for abortions or transexual surgery.

“allow insurers to offer plans that do not meet ObamaCare requirements”

I’m not forced to buy pink things supermarkets call tomatoes.

No one is forced to buy a product or service from me.

Why should I be forced to buy stuff from others?

Providers should be required to compete like the average American is.

You might be happy but I am thinking there were will be a few “moderate” republicans who will be inclined not to support this, because allowing people freedom would kill the mandated Obamacare-replacement plan. Healthy and young people will get much better deals opting for one the so called junk policies. And then the risk pool will become even more lopsided than it is now. Already there aren’t enough young and healthy people in the system as was estimated.

And for this reason will Olympia Snow and Susan Collins support this? I doubt it. One more thing, why does Maine give us such horrible senators anyways?

So is this “conservative canadian Cruz” or the “pro-amnesty Glenn Beck Cruz”?

With Cruz, we can never trust him and his true and sometimes hidden agenda.

“I liked my pre-Obamacare health care plan but was prohibited from keeping it. I want it back.”

You were not prohibited from keeping it.

You could have required under the PPACA that it be continued (if your insurer continued to underwrite health coverage), but you had to specifically ask that it be continued.

As for the same premium, the PACA wasn’t clear about that, but since that would have been the reason why you’d want to keep it, I think you could have insisted.

“allowing people freedom would kill the mandated Obamacare-replacement plan.”

No, it won’t.

The individual mandate only kicked in in 2014.

In 2013, there was no individual mandate, but something like 8 million people were covered by full PPACA coverage via Obama’s “Marketplace”.

Freedom to buy or not buy “worked” (by Democratic standards) in 2013 and can work again.

“why does Maine give us such horrible senators”

Maine’s economy is highly seasonable.

In the slack times, people in Maine often qualify for SNAP “food stamp” benefits, etc.

No specific product or service should be required to be covered under law, state or federal.

No government should enable one company to extract by governmental power billions from the American public yearly while a man or woman must work for $7.25/hour.

No government should enable one medical sector to extract by governmental power billions from the American public yearly while a man or woman must work for $7.25/hour.

We all buy car insurance if we have a car.

Many buy life insurance.

All workers pay SS and Medicare tax.

I used mandated Obamacare-replacement plan as the name for whatever the new bill will be called....the one that allows kids up to age 26, no bans on per-existing conditions and the one that forces men and elderly women to have maternity coverage.

As I listen to Trump and the moderates, they like covering young adults as children, they like covering people with per-existing conditions and they like health plans that have to cover everything. I as a self-employed man do not like the premiums such plans cost.
