The Pentagon said Wednesday that the ICBM fired by North Korea was a first-of-its-kind missile that the U.S. had not seen before and represented a dangerous escalation of the threat posed by the regime of Kim Jong Un.

"This act demonstrates that North Korea poses a threat to the United States and our allies, and we remain prepared to defend ourselves and our allies and to use the full range of our capabilities at our disposal against the growing threat from North Korea," said Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

Destroy the next missile the Norks s be up. Calmly state that if another ballistic missile is launched not only will the US shoot the missile down, but they will launch their own missile.

...a first-of-its-kind missile that the U.S. had not seen before ...

Why? It’s not like something you can pickup at Walmart. I would hope our intelligence services are better than that.

It’s funny the corner that the Nork dictator has put himself into here.

See, if North Korea has an ICBM and they threaten to use it then the US can justify attacking North Korea.

But let’s say the North only CLAIMS to have an ICBM but this President wants to end their threat before they get a real one...all he has to do is confirm that the North has an ICBM and then...checkmate.

Because they may not really have an ICBM. We’re just calling their bluff.

Destroy the next missile the Norks...

See, the problem with that is; if it hits, they know our capabilities. If it misses, they know our limitations.

Better to just watch and discern THEIR capabilities and limitations. I'm sure our best Intel minds are analyzing (and planning) as we speak (or type).

I know....it is very troubling if they had never seen one like this, very troubling.

They had one, they just fired it off on the 4th. It landed near Japan.

If it landed near Japan then it’s not an ICBM.

Why don’t they just ask Senators McCain and Schumer or Barry Soetero what the new capabilities of the missiles are they helped North Korea get.??

If you can throw a football fifty yards down field, how far will it go if you throw it nearly straight up?

Two stage. Pretty brazen shooting it off. Trajectory was almost straight up. If it had gone off course it could have landed almost anywhere in that region.

Funny if it landed in Chicom territory.

Read what you said and then read my post again.

Sorry, but just because someone and then someone else calls it an ICBM does not necessarily make it so.

It landed near Japan. Just like most every other North Korean missile.

I’ll call it an ICBM when it splashes down off of Washington, Oregon, or California.

I grew up reading and hearing about the deeds of America's glorious past, but at a time when all that seemed to have ended. During my entire life--with the possible exception of the Mayaguez incdient--America has been dumped on and humiliated and defeated, with nothing compared to our record before I was born (hope it's not all my fault).

If Trump really wants to show he's a break from our recent history of getting shoved around, he will act as our ancestors did when they were threatened.

The Nazi V-2 rockets could easily reach orbital altitudes but they could not orbit and they could not cross an ocean.

Going straight up is proof of going straight up and nothing more.
