HPG Press Center issued a statement on the invasion operation carried out by the Turkish army since June 17 on the Çukurca border line. According to the HPG statement, at least 30 soldiers have been killed in clashes.

The HPG statement said: “The occupying Turkish army’s invasion operation launched on June 16 at 21.30 in the Zap area in Medya Defense Zones, and the clashes that ensued continue in all intensity.”

The statement included the following on the development and process of the operation:

AT LEAST 30 SOLDIERS KILLED IN SEVERAL SPOTS

On June 17, at 04.30 the occupying Turkish army carried out intense bombings on Küçük Cilo and Martyr Munzur areas and the Gijnê village. Then they attempted to enter the Gijnê village and Qela Bedewê area by land. The troops advancing from the ground and the soldiers deployed in Qela Bêdewe territory with Sikorsky helicopters were targeted and our forces carried out attacks in 6 different locations. 20 enemy soldiers were killed in these attacks as far as we could determine.

A guerrilla unit shot at enemy soldiers at close range as the occupying Turkish army was recovering from the first attack, and 3 soldiers were killed in this action as far as we could determine. Our forces simultaneously targeted soldiers attempting to take position in the Gijne back. In the action carried out in the Gijne back, 2 enemy soldiers were killed and 3 others were wounded as far as we could determine.

SIKORKSY HELICOPTER DAMAGED

The same afternoon, an enemy unit en route to help the dead and wounded soldiers and a Sikorsky helicopter were targeted by our forces. The Sikorsky helicopter was fired at with heavy weapons and had to leave the area due to damage it suffered. The same fire has killed 1 enemy soldier. Later Sikorsky type helicopters came back accompanied with Cobra type helicopters and removed the dead and wounded from the area.

At 17.00 our forces targeted the enemy forces on Gijnê back a second time. In this attack, 1 enemy soldier was killed and another was wounded. Our forces targeted soldiers trying to build their position in the Qela Bêdewe territory and delivered effective hits at close range. In this action, 3 enemy soldiers were killed and another was wounded as far as we could determine.

The occupying Turkish army then went on to bomb the whole area from the morning hours until 22.00 that night. The enemy bombed the area with Howitzers and mortars continuously and targeted Nêrvêh, Bêdê and Saca villages and the Karker hill with jet fighters. After the aerial attacks, partial fires broke out in several spots but our forces intervened and extinguished the fires.

In the invasion operation launched by the occupying Turkish army, a total of 30 soldiers were killed and 5 others were wounded, as far as we could determine.

1 GUERRILLA MARTYRED

Comrade Mazlum Nusaybin has been martyred fighting courageously to prevent the invasion operation launched on June 16 by the evening. Others who were wounded are receiving treatment.

The invasion operation continues now and the public will be informed as we get clearer information.”

Turkey invades Kurdistan (Kurdish region in Iraq) and 30 Turkish soldiers are killed.

One casualty reported by opposing forces.

This is not the first such incursion recently by Turkey.

Thanks for your interest.

This is a serious situation for Turkey and for Kurds. (Both in Iraq and Syria)

The timing of this while the offensive in Raqqa is going on is not by chance.

Yes, is a fact. And they don’t do nearly as well today as they did prior to eliminating 1/2 of the officer corp in a purge after the (fau) coup.

Yep. But I doubt that is in character for Erdogan the Islamist Dictator of Turkey. Want to be head of the Neo Ottoman Empire.

Guess they thought Turkey would eventually reform. They did not. They got more subtle about persecution and genocide (cultural and real).

In the beginning of my study of this, I had some sympathy for the Kemalists. Now, I have learned they are still doing the same thing, just not broadcasting it.

All those minorities living under it, Understand it Totally.

I’m sure they make them internally. Appears to be the same style baggy britches that were used in those mountains 100 years ago.

......”Guess they thought Turkey would eventually reform. They did not. They got more subtle about persecution and genocide (cultural and real)”.....

Well I had to look up when and how....so here’s what apparently is how they got in....

Turkey’s strategic location boosted NATO’s leverage against the Soviet Union after the Second World War.
“NATO membership would guarantee, in essence, that Turkey would not become a Soviet ally. They’ve retained their membership since they joined NATO in February 1952

Turkiye, our NATO "ally" is attacking our actual on-the-ground ally. Unless we proclaim how it is all to be on the ground in the ME then enforce it nothing will wind up beneficial to America. We either have to go all in or get out.

If we permit the reconstitution of the Ottoman Empire then worldwide Jihad will be given a structure and real military training. As we cannot cut off the resources that the West continually transfer to the Jihadists, the Jihad will become real extraterritorial conquest. Turkiye will begin to push back into the Balkans. This will take a couple of years to eventuate and by then Turkiye will have allies in Western European Moslem states.

As of right now, I have been considering the Turks nothing more than the diluted offsprings of Ottomans. So, any report of any dilution in the military population of Turkey, is a good thing.

Erdogan is probably supporting ISIS by the back door and now with military actions. He has always seen ISIS as the agent for recreating the Caliphate and allowing ISIS to do that is a much safer way for Turkiye. IF ISIS were to be successful, Erdogan expects to absorb the ISIS entity into the Turkish Empire and install the Caliphate where it “belongs,” in Istanbul where it will become a traditional caliphate under the control of the modern iteration of the Sultan.

Erdogan got into NATO as an inheritance. Turkiye was a good and useful ally and counterweight to the Soviets back in the day. Once the Soviet empire collapsed Istanbul was no longer necessary. The Soviet collapse allowed the conditions for the rise of Erdogan. We need to cut that ally loose. It is no longer an ally and we are not using NATO successfully to control Istanbul.-Writtn by the hand of an old Turkophile whose childhood was in Istanbul. The collapse of one empire facilitates the rise of another.
