Sell it to Russia or China and let them deal with the riff-raff.
To: ptsal
Not to mention 2 more senators, both automatically dems for the forseeable future

Agreed, especially for a territory that won't help themselves.

Missed by that much-
Should have struck while dismal zero was in office- exchequer is closed, unless feckless congress approves
To: rktman
No. The USA does not need another failed state to bail out.

They are in major financial trouble in large part because they just had to close the US Naval bombing range at Vieques which effectively moved the USN (and probably billions of $$ since) out of PR completely. Now that they are broke they want to have their cake and eat it too.....just my 2 cent.

More guaranteed DemoRat voters and a bunch of added debt is all we will get.

Ditto that. They’re voting to have their debt go away.

I did think that might be your tact, but I couldn’t be sure. Almost deleted it before I posted it.

How can it become a state? It will lose its certified victim status!

And on the flip side of that coin, Mexico votes overwhelmingly for a return of sovereignty for the southwestern U.S. properties.

Who wants even more welfare recipients??? Let them become their own country by purchasing puerto rico from us. Never give them any foreign aid of any sort.

I don’t want Puerto Rico to be a state. They can be independent if they please, but there is absolutely no benefit to Americans whatsoever in adding two permanent hard-left Senators to Congress.
