The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico voted for statehood on Sunday, but virtually no one expects them to join the union anytime soon.
Only about 23% of eligible voters turned out for the election, and 97% of them voted for statehood. But opposition parties that favored independence for the island or a maintenance of the political status quo urged their supporters not to participate in what they called a "rigged" election.
CNN:
Congress, the only body that can approve new states, will ultimately decide whether the status of the US commonwealth changes.

So, will that put an end to the puerto rico day parade? Or will a lot of puerto ricans still maintain their racis' attitudes. What will become of FLAN? Guess CONgress will decide huh? To the 77% that didn't turn out-----guess you get to sit down and shut up.

Cool!
Once PR is a state, they can receive and house all the Middle East refugees. I wouldn’t mind if part of my tax-burden funds that!

Thank Goodness for President Trump! And I’m VERY surprised there were no rumblings of this when 0bama was still on board. He loves nothing more than crippling America. Puerto Rico is a LIABILITY in so many ways - it’s currently more broke than Detroit!
Yep. Sure. Let’s just take on all of their debt, too. I mean, what’s a few more TRILLION!?!?
Yeesh! I vote NO!

Soaking up your tax dollars?
Then the Middle East refugees would become citizens and infiltrate into the United States. Why would anyone, under any circumstances, be in favor of any Middle East refugees (terrorists) coming into the United States

No, if we load up enough of them, the island will tip over and thus, problem solved.
Wow, I’m smart enough to be a Senator.

Twas a post firmly tongue-in-cheek because the PRs would pitch a fit if we forced the refugees on them.
