The magazine ban probably did help, small low capacity pistols along with revolvers and large autos which had single stack mags.
Having said that, the 1911 was stilld doing fine on it’s merits well before the ban. I would guess the 1911 is probably losing a little ground to more modern high capacity handguns but it is still a first class fighting gun.
I’m often awed that liberals seem to have no concept of math.
Every attempt to limit guns by limiting specifications just creates demand for adaptive implementations. 10 round limit? Go figure - sudden marketing of large caliber & subcompact sizes.
My winter carry gun is a Para-Ordanace P12 .45......based on the 1911...
Summer carry is a subcompact single stack 9mm....way lighter and smaller...easier with summer clothes for concealed carry....
The .45ACP. Specifically designed back then to stop moslem Juramentados when the .38 (.361 diameter)long Colt would not.
Now we use a 9MM (.351 dia) and call it progress.

Unfortunately for them, the gun culture is growing, and there are now about 400 million guns in civilian hands. Every year, as people die or just grow old and gift their guns to kids or grandkids, more guns that were “on paper” suddenly cease to exist so far as the BATFE is concerned. Oh, they may suspect that someone’s kid has the gun, but they can’t PROVE it. It is frankly impossible to ban guns from the hands of the American public, and growing more impossible on literally a daily basis.
Oh, and if the Hearing Protection Act passes this year, within 5 years there will be at least 10-20 million suppressors out there...which will really get the gun-banning snowflakes’ panties in a wad.
Lib speak for progress when you actually move backwards. LOL!
Clinton also made the AR-15 platform the most popular sporting rifle inAmerica. People hurried and bought them prior to the ban, discovered they were great fun to shoot, let their friends shoot them, and that was that.
The concept that gives them problems is the existence of other people who make independent decisions in their own interest.
The risk of my state banning weapons, but with a grandfather clause, led me to buy everything I might someday want or that my children might want. I also got backups in case the state didn’t include a grandfather clause, for more flexibility on whether to comply with a full ban. I literally own four times as many guns as I would have if I trusted America’s enemies on the left to respect our God-given right to keep and bear arms. Unintended consequences are a good thing - I love my revolvers!
Then behave. LOL!
I predict the US Military will go back to using .308 and .45 ammo. Bet on it.
Yes it was. I bought a Model 70 Colt combat commander made in stainless steel in the late 70’s. That pistol was throated out, had 4 lbs. of trigger pull, had night sights plus I changed grips. I had a friend who was darn good working on 45’s. He made that 45 unbelievably accurate. He made a number of special rounds.
Won’t your grandchildren feel slighted?

Yes, we do.
.38 LC 125 gr. 772 ft/sec. 165 Ft-lbs x 6 rounds typically
9mm 124 gr. 1150 ft/sec. 364 ft-lbs x 13-17 rounds
.45 ACP 230 gr. 855 ft/sec. 373 ft-lbs x 8 rounds
Ok you and are going to have a duel at 50 paces. There are two single shot pistols to choose from; a .45 ACP and a 9x19 mm parabellum. I’ll let you pick first. Which do you choose?
Well said!
Good point. I hope the question of whether they will be free or slaves will mostly be answered before that becomes an issue. If not, my kids will need to stock up.
