When Mom leaves this earth, we also could move to a different state. I don’t quite know where we would go, and wherever we do go, we could never come back. It’s a tough decision. Not everyone is happy after these moves. I definitely see that our lives would LOOK better with the house we could buy.

I usually have to go to Cali for a roadshow, so some bank is paying the tab but its seriously ridiculous. NYC is the same way (which I spend 15x as much time as west coast) but at least its a short, inexpensive flight.

So they will leave. And take with them the political philosophies that made California a place to be from and turn where they land into the same thing. Like Colorado.

That’s true - and only a matter of time before tech goes the way of aerospace or entertainment and the center of gravity moves elsewhere - but automation is going to create a similar distribution of unemployed masses and small productive class everywhere. Not sure what the answer is going to be.

I find it very sad that a part of our country is dying a slow death. At one time it had Governor Reagan, an economy that outranked countries and was a “dream” to go to. The sad part is that the state is hijacked by the eastern side: California’s capital, LA, San Francisco and illegals. Maybe splitting it up would do something.

California has been the incubator for Left Wing Progressive schemes to destroy the Amercian Dream and middle class. Their goal is to convert America to a county with a ruling elite kept in perpetual political power by uneducated, unaware and compliant underclass of illegal aliens and welfare recipients.

The Progressives have accomplished their goals in California and the rest of the country is at a tipping point and about 10 years behind California.

Oh, no!

Please, Californians, don’t move out of state. You are where you belong. You destroyed your state, and we in the red states don’t want you moving to any of our states, where you would destroy them too with your liberal positions and voting.

If only 50% of California moved to other states, and those people also brought their politics with them, a few of he read states could be turned blue. CA has some 38 million people, so, 19 million moving to other states have the potential to swing a few of those states towards liberal and blue. We need to build walls in all of those “red” wall in all of those red states! Part of the wall could be a promise not to bring their liberal ways with them.

Given the sickening politics of California, I am enjoying the schadenfreude. Message to CA refugees: please stay out of Arizona. It’s a nice state, Please don’t ruin it.

Depends on what I wanted. My eventual goal is to have a place in Montana and a place in Costa Rica or similar.

I wouldn’t declare that not possible. I’m not sure that it is though.

COL is high. There’s no denying that.

I agree.

California is such a magical place. There’s a part of just about every other state in California. You can drive 100 miles and it will remind you of another state. In some parts you can drive ten miles and it will remind you of antoher state. Drive ten more, and see another state.

It has the lowest and highest elevations of the lower 48 states. You can go to the beach in the morning and go skying that afternoon.

It has the ocean, lakes, volcanoes, deserts, forests, giant trees, massive national parks with incredible rock formations.

It has one of the largest, if not the largest natural landing areas for spacecraft.

So many good things started here.

Sadly, the Democrats got control and managed it into a terribly disgusting place to live.

Anyone living here in the 60s can tell you, it was a magical place. Today it’s a hell hole.

I still say, if you had a great governor and state legislature, the state could be turned around. It’s that great a potential.

“Californians deserve a better life right here.”

Won’t get it until Californians wise up, and dislodge the entrenched Democrat beast consuming this state.

Main problem with the falls in the water drought in the central valley over the last couple of years. They were not allowed to tap into the aqueduct coming from Owen’s Valley so they have been unable to produce hardly anything. I drove from Fresno to Pismo using 41 through the ag area and it was dead.

California grows over 200 different crops, some grown nowhere else in the nation. Crops include grapes, almonds, strawberries, oranges and walnuts. They also produce almost all of the country’s almonds, apricots, dates, figs, kiwi fruit, nectarines, olives, pistachios, prunes, and walnuts. It leads in the production of avocados, grapes, lemons, melons, peaches, plums, and strawberries. Only Florida produces more oranges. And they grow juice oranges while California grows table oranges like the Washington navel.

They also grow large quantities of hay, alfalfa and sugar beats for cattle fodder. California is the second ranked producer of livestock products in the US behind Texas.

So I saw that the valley is being killed due to lack of moisture. And the biggest, and for years, the most lucrative business in the state, is dying. And a lot of employment with it. Especially since there are no jobs for the illegals still flowing into the state from the south. Tack on to that that when Moonbeam declared a drought emergency in 2014, the crime rates increased 10% over the next 2 years, especially in 2015.
